First you need to confirm that it's the speaker that's not working. Get any speaker with similar ohms and connect to the leads.if the replaced speaker works then you can replace with a similar one. If the sounds the same as the original then I guess the output amp is the problem.

How do I connect a soundbar to my polaroid tv it only has a headphone out .the sound isn't very good

The coax out is a digital sound output. You can not use that on your soundbar. The sub out is for hooking the tv to a subwoofer (bass only). You gonna have to use the Headphones output, buy a good 3.5mm to rca cable preferably one with a built-in noise filter so it can attenuate the "hum". Also try lower the volume on the TV so you can have less distortion. That's all!

When i put my ear to the front of the sub, it makes a sound more like a rattling / grumbling than a clear bass sound. Is this normal sub function or is there something wrong?

It sounds like you subwoofer may have a blown speaker.
If it is new, take it back and replace it.

If it's not under a warranty, take the case off and examine the speaker. If you see a tear in the fabric part of the speaker cone, or along the edge... it is a "blown" speaker.

These can be fixed, but you will more than likely have to take it somewhere to get it done. If there is a company near you that does professional car installations, they will more than likely be able to fix it... or should at least know someone who can.

My subs sound choppy

Sounds like your sub is "clipping". Clipping is when your speaker is trying to pull more power than the power supply. (head unit, amp) If it sounds good at a low volume and choppy at high volume, supply it with more power. Bigger amp. If it sounds choppy all the time, push gently on the middle of the speaker. It should go back and forth smoothly. If it feels rough, you have blown the coil. Replacing the speaker is the fix for that.

Kicker L7 Repair

With the price of speakers dropping all the time it's really not worth repairing as it will cost too much to have it fixed by hand.
