We replaced all the projectors in our school 18 months ago for the XE31 projectors, we have had to replace all the bulbs already! and they are originals from Sanyo on the voucher offer, but they still don't seem to be as bright! and when playing DVD's the picture is terrible and can hardly be seen. The projectors replaced the Sanyo SE10's and I'm wondering if the throw from the original se10's (as these were ceiling mounted) needs to be altered? Can you help?

First of all what is the throw distance, the relative light ambience (in other words dark room? or winfowed room?, etc) Second, what out put from DVD player? S-video, componaent? etc. This info will help in acquiring solution.

You need to go into the menu to adjust the lamp brightness, the image brightness and the contrast. and if the zoom doesn't make the throw work, you will need to move the mounts.

My friend, i'm sorry and i hope your sitting down. The person who made the decision to change out the products was not educated about projection enough to make this decision. Let me explain. Your previous projector was 3000 lumens, and had better contrast, but had a lower resolution. The replacement projector was 1500 lumens and poor contrast, but higher resolution. You have basically halfed, your output brightness. The decision maker went the wrong way for this product selection. Brighter is better in the education enviorment.

The good news is lcd projectors only last about 4000 operational hours so you can replace them with a dlp product that will last 8-10 years. good luck

Good luck

PT-AX200U Bulb replaced 4 months ago Was on about

carefully take the lamp cover off, and see if there is any glass pieces inside. if all looks Ok, then unscrew the lamp housing and remove the lamp. check for any damage. be careful not to damage the lamp or bump it. These lamps generally contain mercury vapour, so try not to inhale anything if it's broken.

Replacement bulbs burn out within a month

If you did not purchase the OEM Sony manufactured bulb (model LMP-H200) then you likely acquired a poor quality "after market" lamp. I recently purchased a replacement lamp for my VW60. The list price is $369, I paid $269 from a reputable brick and mortal / on-line retailer.

If you paid substantially less than $269 or bought from an unknown on-line seller, your lamp is likely the problem. Note I have seen some shady on-line sellers (with "electric" in their name) sell knock of bulbs for the same price as the OEM.

Hope this helps.

Have power, but no image

I have gone through two bulbs in the last nine months. When I was searching for an answer I found a website which is investigating a possibnle class action suit against Sharp because of poor bulbs. If anyone wants the info I can pass it on to them.
