I have a Marantz sr7005. The video has started to cut out, usually in the morning when first fired up.I can then turn it off and then back on again and it will start the video again. I may have to do this a few times before it will keep going for the rest of the day. The blinking red light is giving a signal like it is speakers, cable or amp. The speakers have been used for several years now and I have changed out both the speakers and the cablees to kno avail. I use the preouts to another amp so cant be the amp. At one point I took off the cover and cleaned off all the dust (alot) and it wored for several weeks. Seems almost like a bad solder

This can be as simple as a poor connection somwhere in the voltage regulator circuit or a defective driver transistor or output transistor. In any case, this is a simple repair for any shop that works on vintage receivers. If it is the outputs, that will be the most expensive repair from a parts perspective. The outputs will cost in the $5-$10 range for each one and it could be 2-4 pieces. If you wish to attempt this repair yourself, you will need a multimeter that has a diode checker. Let me know and I'll provide additional details and instructions.

Hello there Ed.
For anyone that has ever had such an issue with a MARANTZ SR series (6001. 7001. 7002. 8001...etc...) issue a question and I do HAVE the answer.
I could be just anything, or just the low quality binding posts used by MARANTZ for that.
Please describe to me in details how you've connected your speaker wires at the back, and give me description when and how did this problem came up.
Kind regards
Evangelos

it is not made to drive 4 ohm loads.also if you measure the impedance on the speaker,at some frequencies,it is closer to 3 ohms. This will cause the amplifier to shut down.Today's amplifiers are embellished specs.the old marantz 2325 was 125 watts a channel and weighed 80 pounds. It would eat alive some of the 1000 watt home theater amps of today.Marantz is very nice stuff.

I have exactly the same problem! Sometimes when I turn the input dial it comes back on but this time it is out for good. I have tried re-wiring and unplugging etc. nothing seems to work.

It sounds like you've read one of my many posts on 901 deployment in the AV world.
Functionally, what is the difference between one amp with 'x' channels or 'x' mono amps? Nothing. Pre-outs don't know or care what else an external amp does.
According to this link http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/642968.html those amps are 2- and 5-channel, respectively.
There was a time when I had two bridged-mono Carver Cube atmps (at a real 400 watts) pushing one 901 each but that was big time overkill.
I now use a Carver AV-406 (functionally the same as your MM7055) with the 901 EQ in between the AV Receiver's front pre-outs and two 110-watt channels. Other channels on the AV-406 pull subwoofer and surround back duties. My AVR directly powers only the center and surround speakers.
The MM7025 would work for you.
