Code 24 and 25 (blend door actuator) are showing up on the electronic A/C display. I reset this code over and over by hitting the floor and off buttons simutaneously then automatic, this was letting it work temporaraly but now I think its totally broke. I read online that you can access this blend door actuator through the instrument panel, but other forums say you have to pull the dash completly out. How hard of a job is this, and should a medium skilled mechanical person like myself attempt it.
Yes, IP must come out.

But, you sure it's the blend door actuator?

Its alot of work, if that is even the problem I switched it and that still is not the problem. It is dead center above the radio but futher back in the dash and at the very top of the dash. Be ready to have tour fore arms scared up. two of the screws are very hard to get to and your gonna need a 8mm wrench that works like a socket wrench. If you dont have this dont even do it. I am still having the same issue after changing two of them. so, I am lost!
Pulling the dash is what you have to do! Anyone have any idea on what could be messed on my 2000 Marquis? 24 and 25 pops up but actuator does not fix issue. I even changed the blower motor resistor on the hood! and still all heat no ac. cold on pipes under hood and was pure ice when I had the dash down and moved the lever to cold from hot.!

I've had the reverse problem with heat only, no AC. I got the car from my dad who had Mercury look at it and they wanted to remove the dash to get to the blend door actuator. The first hint that it didn't need all that was there was no clicking of stipped gears coming from the actuator. I thought about tearing apart the dash so I unhook the battery. I went back to watch a video and I learned about running the diagnostic test. I reconnected the battery to run the test and the AC worked and that lasted over a year. The problem would come back periodically and I would run the diagnostic test and bam the ac was back. Yesterday I lost AC again and this time the diagnostic test did not bring it back. I got codes 25 and 24. So just like any computer problem you disconnect it for a few minutes. I unhooked my battery, cleaned the terminals while I was there and after 5 minutes, reconnected. it. I reran the diagnostic test and only code 25 this time. AC is working good again.

I recently did mine, I hear you can do it without taking the entire dash apart but I had no luck with it myself. I have to get ready for work but, on mine it was located down and to the left of the radio. its a white box...are you hearing a clicking noise or something? I had to roll the entire dash back and it was still a major pain getting it out.
