What can i do to use my printer i just bought a new toner cartridge and need to print some important papers i dont have any more money to print in store
SOURCE: New Ink Cartridge
Is the toner cartridge an original Brother or is it remanufactured? The toner cartridge for this model is the TN-350, which has a "flag gear" on the left (gear) side. It is a little plastic piece that sticks out on the new cartridges and, after putting the cartridge in for the first time, it rotates out of the way. This is how the printer knows that the cartridge is new. Some remanufacturers either don't put the flag gear in or they forget to turn it back to the original position when they build the cartridge. So that would be the first thing I would look at.

error 44 dcp 130/mfc 240/440 etc.:
abnormally high temperature within print head.
You have two choices to TRY to fix it:
1. put in new carts. press menu then start copy b/w then fourtimes arrow up button (AUB) quickly one after another.
press by help of AUB and OK:
7 - (Ok) 6 - (ok) 4 (ok) then start b/w copy to initiate the carts and let the machine do some power cleaning.
leave the maintenance mode by pressing AUB 9 (ok) and 9 again.
2. Make sure that the ph is at correct position simply by pressing on it from top (power up machine. wait til ph runs to left side. unplug from power. simpl press onto the ph). replug to power.
If you still receive the error the ph is defective due to bad generic ink and needs replacing.

if the Drum LED is still lit after replacing the drum unit, the Drum counter may not be reset.
Reset the Drum counter as follows:
The Drum counter is now reset.

I got exactly the same problem and the "reset" didn't do anything.
I fixed it by putting a piece of duck tape on magic eye on the cartridge.
Fallow those step to do the same thing as me:
Now, you can really empty your cartridge.
SOURCE: dcp 7020 and 7040 toner life end message premature, need override
When the Toner Life End LED flips on, requires you to replace the cartridge,
even when there's still toner left in the cartridge. The machine
detects end of life by shining a light through from one side to the
other.
To circumvent the detection mechanism, remove the cartridge and put
a piece of masking tape over or jam a little bit of paper into the clear opening/circle on the right side
of the toner cartridge, and then pop the cartridge back in. Eventually,
you'll start seeing streaks, and then you'll know that the cartridge is
truly empty.
