LaCie Hard Drive isn't recognized on my PowerBook anymore

Plug it in...turn it on...and no recognition that it is hooked up to the USB port. This wasn't a problem about 6 months ago (obviously i don't use it every day)

XP doesn't recognize 500GB external Lacie after almost 2 years

try it on different usb ports on your system
try replacing the cable which connects the hard drive with the usb port
if this does not works the problem lies in the portable hard drive and i think it would be under warranty period so get it checked

Lacie 250GB Hard Disk is not being recognized by PC (Windows XP)

Some PC's cannot deliver enough power to the USB devices to function properly through the USB port.
Does your Lacie hard disk have a power input connector if so conect a power adapter to it before you put it into your USB port.

Another alternative, get a powered USB hub connect it into your computer then connect the Lacie hard drive to the powered USB hub.

My powerbook g4 won't recognize my external hd or my web cam but it recognizes my ipod.

I am not really sure but i think the Camara and the External Hard Drive have to be compatible with Apple I think so you can use it. An IPOD is made by Apple so thats why your G4 recognizes it. I would just buy like a USB Drive. And also try to download the Drivers also and you can do that by google-ing it that sort of think. Anyways just use a windows based computer Bro its much more efficient. Let me know how it goes alright.

Having Problem with both LaCie hard drives being recognized on both macs

Try to connect to another computer, and see if it recognizes the drive. If Not, you can dismantle LaCie and take the disk out.

Connecto your disk to another external box (USB or Firewire) so you can have access to you data.

Dead drive?

Ok! This is bad, just like any HD when you start hearing noises clicking, vibrations, it is due to a loose or faulty cylinder. These things are not worth the repair and your files are lost. The only thing that you can do is try to hook this up to another PC to see if it will work long enought to extract the files. Keep in mind a lot of companies manufacture these devices, but there largest business is geared towards Microsoft customers, so if you have a Mac do not count on guarantees for these devices to function properly with your unit.
