Is this heater standalone, or is it hooked up to an external controller? If it is standalone, it sounds like you need a water temp sensor for the heater. If its hooked up to an external controller, you likely need a 10k temp sensor. What error code does the heater display when it shuts down? And what temperature are you able to read on the heater and/or external controller?

SOURCE: Hauward H400 heater won't turn on

check pressure switch operation most heaters will not operate without sufficient water flow/pressure. You can use a multimeter to troubleshoot the wiring using the schematic. If its induced draft milivolt ignition verify there is suffiecient gas flow to the unit

SOURCE: Hayward H400 Pool heater will not stay lit

"IF" - Hayward Pool Heater Fails to Ignite: the most common reason for this problem is insufficient gas supply. The Hayward heater LED display will show a diagnostic fault code of "IF" which stands for Ignition Failure. Undetected gas pressure problems if not investigated properly may result in unnecessary replacement and servicing of your Hayward Pool Heater.

SOURCE: hayward H400 error code bo

This error means "Bypass Operation". On the back of the control module there are some "dip switches". They have an on or off position. Check switch number 2. Make sure it is in the "off" position. The "on" position is for a remote thermostat.

I can not turn off ob on the screen of my Hayward pool heater

I looked up the owners manual for the Hayward H400 heater and it did not list the "ob" indication. For this reason I would call the and they likely can help you out.

Please let me know how this turns out. Thank you.

How many thurms will the H400 use in one Hr 400,000 BTU?

A BTU is the energy it takes to raise a pound of water (a pint) one degree in one hour. So if we have enough water to keep the heater running for an hour it will use 400,000 therms.

Hi I hay a Hayward H400 pool heater. It is 2

This is a water flow problem and will be the by-pass assembly in the water manifold. Or their may be an external by-pass wich will be a valve bridging the inlet and outlet pipes for the water. This valve if you have it should be 80-90% closed to force water through heater. Before you do anything be sure to check to be sure the filter and baskets are clean. Often this is the problem.
