Not a good idea. Miter saw are too dangerous to be altering them in any way.

SOURCE: makita LS1013 miter saw motor runs very slowly

Could be a bearing problem. If the bearings are dry and seizing up they will hinder the motor speed. Alternatively, if they are worn and allowing lateral movement in the motor the armature will rub against the field windings when it all magnatizes (sp?). I would investigate bearings before electrics. Hope this helps, good luck.

SOURCE: Unable to lift the saw blade Makita Miter Saw

Look at the pivot point on the rear of the miter saw for the push/pull locking pin. The pin is there so you can lock the saw in the down position for easier carrying. To unlock the saw, simply pull the locking pin out (Makita calls this the "stopper pin"). Then you can use the saw and easily raise and lower it for cutting.

As you might find it helpful to have, I have included a link from the Makita web site for a free copy of the owners manual that you can print or save for future use and reference. It has some handy info on use and care of your saw.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

You may find, you have a lock, button, that needs to be held in, before you can drop the saw to cut.

I have a Makita LS1013 Dual Slide Compound 10-inch Miter Saw. It was working one minute and next no power!

How did you measure the power at the switch Live to N ? that would rule out a break in the cable all that is left is Armature ,Stator coil and wiring to both.

Makita LS1013 110V feels underpowered. What could have caused this? Brushes are barely worn.

How underpowered? running at half speed? If so check the wiring in the 110v plug. I have seen saws come into the workshop where 1 of the wires is connected to earth pin this results in 55v being fed to saw hence 1/2 speed. Is there heavy arcing at the commutator? if yes armature probably blown. If not still worth examining armature for discolouration, examine field coils at same time if everything seems ok then a possibility is the controller. You could try by passing the controller and if saw seems to run better then you know you need a new controller. It is located at the back of the motor. If you are not sure about electrics do not try this you may electrocute your self or blow the controller.

Makita LS1013 chop saw just started making a bad bearing noise and the elecric brake is not kicking in after the trigger is released.

You will have to check if it is a bearing going and the electric brake may not be getting any power to it now or it could be sticking.
