Hello, I think it either had a bad back light board or one of the florescent tubes in the display has gone bad. As these sets get older, I see more of the florescent tubes going bad. I think there are 9 in that set, and all it takes is one of them to go out to cause the set to shut down. You may also look for a bad connection on the transformers on the back light board.....thanks, let me know

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. If the blinks continues, and non-stop, the fault should be with its main system control IC, and with the memory IC.

Your power supply is weak. If you think you can repair this I will tell you how. If you cannot do this,find someone who works electronics and share this repair. Two capacitors are bad. When pulling the back cover off, you may see one or two capacitors bulged. Even if they look good....replace these capacitors. The locations are numbered and, the capacitor having a value and temperature of 105 degrees.. Location of the first capacitor is 2074, value 25volts @ 2200 mf @ 105 degrees and will most certainly be bulged. The next capacitor may look fine....replace it. That capacitor location is 2066, value is 35 volts @ 1200mf @ 105 degrees. When you replace these, please be sure to get the polarity (positive leg and negative leg) of these capacitors seated correctly...this is a must. This will correct your TV. Price the board first and then decide, I fix these in our shop but do not like or enjoy working on them at all.

Also changed swollen C2074 and C2081 and it now works perfectly! a bit daunting for a novice like myself but with a steady hand and decent 'put it back the way you took it apart' skills, all went well!
