The Check Engine light stays on, but most of the time when I try to go, after stopping or after I start it, it will not accelerate right and the check engine light flashes seven times. I don't know if it is code for something, that would be helpful to know. Also, after it finally reaches 50 mph it runs like it should. Your help on finding out what should be checked or done would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

that code definition is "Evap high purge flow fault". It means you may have a problem with the evaporative system. this system routes fuel fumes back to the fuel tank. If you want to try and clear this code, find the radio code for your car and then disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the check engine light should be out. You will then need the radio code to reset your car stereo. the check engine light may stay off if the condition was a transient one. If not, the light will come back on after you drive the car two drive cycles. That is: two starts, warm ups and shut downs. If the light returns, have a mechanic check it out.

check the fuel line hose near the fuel regulator for wear as they tend to leak or corrode causing a gas smell inside the car. My 2000 Kia Sportage just had the same problem with the gas smell inside the car.
SOURCE: Check engine light is on for my 2003 Kia Rio. At
my 01 did that and it was the plug wires it bucked real bad
next time it happened it was just sluggish up hills and light would come on. it was the fuel filter it had 255,000 miles on it

first you will have to find out what the light is all about it could be something as simple as a bad airfilter or something more complex like an o2 sensor you can go to auto-zone and they will check the light for free and tell you what the problem is once you do this if you like send me a message and ill tell you how to rectify the problem hope this helps you.
