Microwave HT85G650B keeps switching off after 2 secs when on microwave setting but works okay when on grill setting

grill circuitry is not the same as microwave circuitry. The microwave function relies on a magnetron to excite the water molecules in your food. The magnetron and high voltage diode are not working and need to be replaced.

On microwave mode the oven makes light buzzing noise and does not heat food. Convection oven and grill functions work perfectly. [email protected]

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts (including a fuse and the diodes), then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Is this a magnetron problem?

check the H.V.capacitor first for a shorted condition, then the H.V. diode next these are a big culprit and are cheaper than a mag tube

The microwave function stopped functioning. Anew

ck the door inter locks . . but if its just been apart for a mag . I would look first at wire connections or pinched wire ..ect . these are common after major service ..

Microwave not working-Sharp 798 M,oven Grill ok

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

Microwave not working but oven and grill do

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.
