Remove bobbin and reinsert. Re thread needle . Make sure the right size of needle for the material. And check that there is not a wad of fluff under the feed dogs.
Best wishes

SOURCE: Bobbin thread not being picked up

This unfortunately sounds dismally like a timing problem. When a sewing machine makes a sudden mechanical stop as when a needle is bent slightly and hits the needle plate, sometimes the other machine bits revolve along further causing the needle to be introduced into the hook either to early or to late to catch the thread.

To test this, remove the thread, the needle plate and and the bobbin case. Replace the needle with a brand new one. Yes, again. Revolve the machine by hand via the balance wheel and watch closely as the needle goes into the hook region allow it to it move down and then just start to move up. If the tip of the hook is not pretty close to right behind the needle than it is more than likely a timing problem.

If the tip of the hook is behind the needle in the scarf (the slight hollow on the back of the needle) than it is not timing. Thread the machine normally like it is and watch what happens as you manually turn the machine via the balance wheel. The thread should catch and be pulled around the hook and let go.

Try this and then either you figured it out the problem or contact me again. Either way please vote. Thanks

It could be that there is a loose piece of thread, or some fluff which is obstructing the tension gauge. Try blowing around the theading area (or even run the hoover pipe near it to see if you can **** it out). I cleared mine by folding a piece of non fluffy material and rubbing gently between the tension dial and machine.

Good luck

If you broke a needle and cannot get it to pick up the thread from the bobbin you need to check your timing. Remove the needle plate and turn the machine over watching the needle, when it is at the bottom of its travel the hook on the shuttle should be right next to or a fraction from the needle. So that as the needle begins to move upward the hook should pass it if it passes to soon it will miss the loop of thread. Check to make sure your needle is installed all the way up in the bar. If your machine is out of time and you are fairly handy, you can retime it. There should be 2 set screws some where behind the shuttle. Loosen them, one loose and one only as loose as need be to turn the shuttle. The needle must have moved upward about 1/16 before the hook is in place to catch the loop. This can be time comsuming, and you will have trial and error. Good luck. P.S. always check for simple stuff before you go for the hard stuff.

My se400 works great most of the time. Perfect stitches and than jams, material won’t move. Remove it and starts again goes for a while than, jams

Be sure to clean the bobbin/hook area (including the feed dogs) frequently. Sometimes, the thread will pick up junk and cause a jam.

I have a deco 600....it keeps on jamming. The top thread gets entangled with bobbin and the machine jams fast and the needle breaks.

try adjusting the needle thread right up to stop the bunching of thread that is causing the problem

Is the bobbin supposed to move on the Bernette Deco 600?

Could you please let me know how you got this resolved. I just got this same machine and I am wondering the same thing...it just stopped picking up the bobbin and I have never really looked at it before that but the bobbin does not spin as well

The machine jams

make sure the top thread isn't coming off the thread take up lever and also the sewing machine may need to be checked for a timing problem.

My Bernina Deco 340 does not pick the bobbin thread but keeps saying the top thread is broken

Check the needle timing. Go to bernina on the web and download the service manual for your model. The eye of the needle should be at the pick arm of the bobbin case Too early or late and it will miss the cotton.

I am getting a code that says the needle is bent or the thread is knotted, neither is true. I have changed the needle and rethreaded both the top thread and bobbin. What else could it be

I have a Bernette Deco 600 which was doing the same thing. While it was running it would jam and give this code. If you take the cover off of the end of the top of the machine on my machine there was a rod the needle was connected to. There were two cams attached to this rod, one of the cams was slipping which threw the machine into a jam. Once I pushed the cams together and tightened down the set screw it worked great. Good luck

I have a Bernina Deco 340. When I begin sewing, it only sews a few stitches before the thread jams and I have a huge mess in the bobbin case. I've taken the top off and cleaned the thread out of the bobbin...

First make sure you have the presser foot lever up when threading the machine.
It you have been doing that then I would check the bobbin area for burs of any kind on the bobbin basket (sometimes you can sand the off). That's about all you can do with the covers on.
Hope this helps
