Where does the USB cable plug in to the camera? - 24985954-h2fs4xmf3wki3cecpzu53sb1-2-0.jpg

It's a multi connector. You should have it with the package in the camera box.
here is the link for the manual.

I need a new USB cable

Most Vivitar cameras do have an USB cable with a mini USB plug going into the camera and a normal USB plug going into the computer. Every electronica shop, where you can buy camera's will have such a cable. Don't forget to take your camera with you, so you can try the plug going in the camera in the store.

Where on the camera do you plug in the plug for the computer, i know where the usb goes on the computer but the plug I got does not fit in the camera

Your camera requires a "U8" type USB cable to connect between the standard USB port on your computer and the U8 jack on the camera.

steve_con_27.jpg
A "U8" style USB cable & jack.

The U8 USB is similar in appearance to the USB "Mini" or USB "A" style jack. But will not mate to any other jack besides the U8 style. A typical USB Mini or "A" is shown below for comparison.

steve_con_28.jpg

The camera shipped with the correct cable, but you probably didn;t notice there was a difference between it and other USB Mini cables - and simply grabbed the wrong one.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

I cannot download my pictures from my polaroid x800 digital underwater camera. One user said to turn the camera on and press the picture button. My usb cable is where the batteries are so I cannot turn...

1. Turn PC on.
2. Plug camera cable into Camera.
3. Plug camera cable USB end into computer USB port.
4. Turn on Camera... wait until camera show message 'USB, PC, Pictbridge'.
5. PC should be selected if not select by highlighting and press shutter button.
6. Press 'Shutter' button.
7. Window 'Autoplay' appears on PC. Select 'import' in Autoplay window.
8. Another window will ask you to name your picture folder. Give it a name.
9. The pictures download to the picture folder automatically.
10. Turn the camera off and disconnect cable from camera and from the PC
11. ENJOY!!

I would like to download pics from a digital camera to my computer but the computer is old. I see no port for digital card

Do you have the CD that came with your digital camera?

IF so, put it in your optical drive, and install the software.
This CD contains the drivers for your camera.
Drivers allow your computer to 'communicate' with you camera.

Now obtain the correct USB connector that plugs into your camera. Should be a male Micro, style of USB male plug,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USB_types_2.jpg

The plug all the way to the left in the photo.

They sell USB cables that have this style of male USB plug on one end, and the usual USB A style on the other end of the cable.

Male. The male USB A style, is shown all the way to the right in the photo.

Looking at the usual style of USB plug, compare it's size to the Micro USB plug.

Yes, the female version of that plug is on your phone.

There is also a kit made by Philips, that has 5 different adapter ends of the USB style, in the kit.

The adapter ends just plug onto a male USB A style end.
The kit comes with a Male A USB to Male A USB cable.
It's rolled up on a tiny reel that is about 1 inch wide, and is retractable.
You just grab the ends of the cable, and pull out the length of cable you need.

This gives you an idea of what I'm referring to,

With the software from your camera installed on your computer, and the USB cable plugged from your camera to your computer, you are able to download.

Some camera's have it so you turn the camera on, and open the shutter. Your camera may differ. Check your camera user guide.

Another way is to buy an All-In-One card reader.
Plug a USB cable into it, and your computer.

This is an example,

Sony DSC-W170

Your Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W170 came with a cord that had a little flat plug on one end and three separate plugs on the other end.  The single plug goes into the bottom of your camera.  The end that has three plugs has

(1) USB
(2) video output
(3) audio output

(2 and 3 are for hooking up to your TV)

If you connect the USB end to your PC and the single, flat plug into your camera, this acts as the USB cable.  There is no USB plug on the camera (for just a USB cord).

USB cables

make sure you plug the small plug on your usb cable into your camera...easy..
the big plug on your usb cable must be plugged into your usb port on your computer. It can only fit in one way and not upside down. It will also fit into your network port, but this not correct port. If your usb plug fits into the port the right way up, and upside down, then it is the wrong port. If your computer is old, then it may not have a usb port.

When we plug the camera into the macintosh it wont recognize the camera

Well after a bit of trial and error, I found a somewhat consistent solution.  Here are the steps:
1.  While the camera is off, plug the USB cable into the camera (Don't plug the other end of the USB cable into the computer yet)
2.  Turn the camera on and press the mode button
3.  Navigate to the Camera icon
4.  Plug the USB cable into the computer (the camera icon will change to the USB screen)
5.  You will notice nothing happens!
6.  Unplug the USB cable from the computer
7.  The camera screen switches back to the Camera icon
8.  Plug the USB cable back into the computer and a VTech 773 icon should show up on your desktop.
9.  When your finished copying pictures to your hard drive, drag the VTech 773 icon to the trash.
I don't know why it works but it worked 9 out of 10 times for me.
Let me know if you find a simpler solution.

Locate local source for usb cable and user manual

Don't ever buy another USB cable for any camera MariamAli. Buy San Disks mini card reader MobileMate SD+, plug your mem card, SD,SDHC, or MicroSD, into it, then plug MobileMate directly into your USB port.

Saves lugging around a bulky, and unique, USB Cable and saves on your camera battery power, that otherwise is needed to power USB Cable download from camera.

Available at RadioShack, Staples, and most anywhere SD Mem Cards are sold. $15 it think.

Where is port to connect USB cable?

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. I have put together a picture that shows where the mini-USB plug is supposed to be attached to the camera. I hope it helps. This picture actually shows plugging the AV cable into the receptical, but right behind it is the mini-USB port. This is where you connect the USB cable. It looks like you have to lift the flap on the corner to reveal the plugs.
