The v belt will last much longer but you can use the round rubber stretch belt. If you want the v belt and you don't have the old one then sometimes if you use a thick string you can get close to the size of belt needed. Unfortunately there really isn't a set size for the belt. Every machine is different
There is no "belt" size. You need to measure the distance with some yarn and buy some leather treadle machine belt. There are a few vendors on ebay. The machines had a "staple" of sorts that would hold the treadle belts together that might be hard to find.
It sounds like you have a broken belt. The belt connects the motor to the large handwheel on the right side of the machine. Usually the side cover comes off with just a couple screws and exposes the motor belt, however some require removing the back cover also. You should be able to get a belt at your nearest sewing machine repair shop. Take your old one with you so you get the correct size.
If you open the side of the machine and the belt is not broken. The pulley on the motor may be damaged.
