It will need a service as one or more of the resisters have blown inside it will require a full check. So up to you as the repair maybe quite expencive depending on the labour costs.

SOURCE: on one minute then POP loud noise, burning smell
Loud popping and loss of power is common on plasma TVs and is usually either the Y sustain or Z sustain boards or buffers; in these instances the damaged part will be quite evident.
If this is an LCD you might have degraded insulation on one of the pink/blue backlight power leads causing high voltage to 'arc' to the chassis.
The loud bang and smell is actually to your advantage as in these circumstances the damaged part is usually evident. It'll just be a matter of popping the back off and sleuthing around. :)

SOURCE: 40 inch flat screen..loud pop heard and tv shut
Try leaving the TV unpugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

SOURCE: loud pop from tv,now tv will not turn on
You may have two bad capacitors...I think they may be 10 or 16volts at 1000MFs. They will be bulged..replace and see if it will work!

SOURCE: TV LG Model 50PX1D-UC Flat
Hello,
The problem is that there is a bad capacitor inside the unit, it is either on the main panel or the power panel. The popping sound you got was due to the fact that the lead on the capacitor was bridging, therefore causing some electrical popping sound.
Run a check on the main panel and the power panel for any bad capacitor and replace it with a new one. That way, your television will be in good condition once again.
Take care and good luck
