[email protected] forgot my password, husband set up acct many years ago, but he died last year

Although I don't think this is a question for fixya It's opened the same way every acct opens -
Gmail > user name > password

go to Google.com
go to gmail page
Under the space asking for your password, click on the link that says "need help"
that will help reset your password since you do know your user name.

On the Gmail sign-in page, click the "Need help?" link.

Click the "Need help?" link on the Gmail sign-in page.

That can be a problem. I save passwords in the browser, locked behind a master password. Follow the Google search:
forgotten password for gmail account
and perhaps one of the options given will help you out.

is there a question?

hijacked? just reset you password using alternate email or security question if not you can always hack it back.
ps you can also send a report to gmail.. by clicking on forgot password and following procedure .

The problem might be that you changed you whole account and know you are using a different one.
you can try to get back to your account if it hadn't been more than a since the last day you signed in that account.
Try this
go to Google.com homepage
click on G-mail
in the the sign-in
type in your username that you forgot you password(your old username)
for the password type a random password
and then click sign-in

The the page will display an error message saying that the password is invalid.

the you must click on forgot password
after clicking on forgot password they will ask you for an e-mail

they will ask you to type in an email address that you have access to it can be (yahoo, outlook, etc:)
after typing in this e-mail, go to the e-mail and sign-in you will find a message from Google team and a password that they have sent you
