it all depends on the CD's your using. some CD's will not play on some players. try DVD-R blank disc, this may make a difference. try one to see ! I ran into the same problem a while ago! it depends on the player itself, DVD-R 4.7GB data 16xspeed. this should work if player is compatable with it.
I understand that the DVD Home Theater System is not playing Video CDs you burned using the CD/DVD burner in the computer.
The player can playback Video CDs and Super Videos CDs burned using any software. However, it is required to select the Video CD option while burning the Video CDs. Another factor is to select the color system. If the Video color system used in your country is PAL and there is an option to select that in the burning software that you're using, please select it.
I have provided a link where you can view the steps to select the settings when using Nero software:

If you need specific assistance with your burning software, please get back to me with the name of the software.
If there is anything else I may assist you with, please let me know.

Are you sure that you have the file type associated in your Windows operating system to a Music player like Windows Media or iTunes? This may be the most common reason that music CDs won't play.
Assuming you have tried different makes of cd or dvd disks, it's a classic drive failure problem where the laser can no longer burn or read dvd's, but may still be able to read cd's only.
You will have to replace the drive, they are quite inexpensive, and very easy to fit.
