The air con fan comes on with the air con switch. the engine cooling fan comes on when the engine temp. censer reaches operation temp. most times the air through the radiator when driving is enough to keep the censer cool and the fan not working if you stop at lights for any length of time it will come on.

SOURCE: Cooling fan wont work

The water temp sensor is located near the thermostat housing. This sensor is what tells the ECM to turn the fan on/off. The water temp sending unit is located near the same area. You know you have the correct sensor is because the water temp sensor has a 2 prong plug. The water temp sending unit only has 1 prong.

SOURCE: Need the Location of the temperature sensor on 95 olds cutlass.

The image isn't loading, so I can't tell if this has been 100% answered, but here's the text version:

Should be a fuse panel under the hood, passenger side near the coolant tank and radiator inlet. In that panel should be 2 large square fuses. These are fuse/relay combo deals. Switching these out should fix you right up. Mine had the same problem about a month ago and I had to replace them then.

SOURCE: cooling fan relay

its not an actual relay is like a relay assembly

Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM)

The Constant Control Relay Module is located at the LH front of the engine.

SOURCE: 99 MERCEDES BENZ C230 AUXILIARY COOLING FAN RELAY

I thought they where either on the side of the core support(follow the wire harness and it should go to the relay). If not remove the fuse box lid and then take out the screws retaining the lid housing and you will find a series of relays. There will be one for high speed (engine uses this when temp. is to high) the other is a low speed relay(this is the climate control aux. fan relay) They may have fuses on top of them I know the older models did. I hope I have been helpful.

1987 olds cutlass ciera 3.8 cooling fan runs when engine is cold; changed cooling fan switch and temp sensor, fan relay times out OK.

Where is the cooling fan switch on 92 cutlass supreme?

It doesn't exactly work that way. The temp sensor on the engine sends a signal to the computer, and the computer grounds the fan relay.
You could use a scanner to watch the temp sensor data, or jumper the fan relay to see if the fans will run.
The fans should also come on when the ac is running.

AC and Cooling Fans Not Working

Try installing a jumper across the N/O terminal at the relay socket. Temp sensor in the radiator or in the thermostat housing supplies the signal for the relay the other relay signal is supplied by A/C in on position. both fans will run continuous with A/C on. One fan runs intermittent relative to water temp. Be careful not to blow a head gasket. If you leave the jumpers in place, the fans will stop when the ignition is turned off, save the engine until you isolate the relay signal problem. then simply remove jumpers and reinstall the relays

Engine cooling fans not working all fuses and relays good, fans are also good works when ac runs need location for splice S105

Hello: The cooling fans will not come on all the time with the A/C OFF. The fans will come on until a predetermined temperature (Cadillac the temp is 236) so to check it without diagnostic equipment just let it run and watch the temp gage and see if the fans come on.

The AC in my 1992 Honda Accord works. However, it blows hot air when I'm stopped at a light for too long. "Honda diagnosed the problem; said something about some type of thermostat that sticks,...

This indicates that the booster fan for AC has failed. If you look in back of the radiator, you will see 2 electric fans. One is for the engine cooling, and the other is a booster for when the AC is running to provide for extra air flow through radiator and AC condenser. (May also apply when engine overheats, but not sure of that) As car is moving along, then air is pushed through allowing AC to work. When standing still, and fan failed, then no air (or less air) passing over condenser grill. (Condenser is the one in front of the radiator) No cool.
While standing still with engine running, open the hood and look at fans. Watch your fingers. Fans can start at any time. One may be running or not. Now turn on AC and look at fans. Both should come on together. If not, then it may be either the fan, or the fan relay or fuse. Or even the wire.
Does the engine get extra hot while standing still running? Let it sit there for ten mins or so and see if main fan kicks on. Watch your temp gauge, you dont want it to boil over. When the temp reaches the level it is at normally, one fan should kick on. If temp keeps climbing and no fan, then that may be the same issue, likely the main relay.

Cooling fans not working on a buick regal 1992?

First check fuse in engine compartment. Use a test light to check for voltage at the fan connector. If no voltage at fan with engine running and hot, replace fan relay in engine compartment relay box. If there is voltage at fan, but fan doesn't run, replace fan. Any questions, please reply.

My a/c comp and engine cooling fan are not working it seems like they both quit at the same time is there a sensor that opperates both on a 2001 chevy cavalier

there is a fan relay, and an AC relay that both turn the fan on at certain times, including when the AC is on. a coolant temp sensor tells the computer (ECM) to turn on the fan but only when the engine reaches a certain temp. an electronic component locator can show you where these sensors and relays are located. they are not very expensive. your local auto parts store can look that up for you.

95 grand am radiator fan only runs with AC on

Cooling Fan Temp Sensor is the First thing You Check (with what you have described) Cooling Fan Should ALways come On When The A/C is turned On as A/C Adds A Load to Engine, If Temp Sensor is Faulty it Will Not Give GROUND Signal to ECM >For COOLING FAN >RELAY to Give ground and turn ON The Fan.
There ARE 2 temp Sensors that Serve Different Purposes 1 is for Dash READING GAGE & Or TEMP LIGHT the Other is For ECM or Fan Relay (SAME Thing) you Said>""can disconnect the sensor and fan continues to run" < This Leads me to think you Changed the Wrong One. Not Questioning your Skills Just Here to Help.
TEMP SENSOR FOR 3.1L V6 is Located upper RH rear of engine compartment, near exhaust system. Temp SENSOR for 2.3L Engine is Located in LH rear of engine compartment.

Coolig fans dont run

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks

1992 5.0 camaro no cooling fan except with ac

Yes there is a relay, but first answer this question, do you know the fans don't come on until the engine temp is above 230+ degrees F.? That is almost in the hot zone. run a scanner on the engine and watch the ECT sensor temp reading to verify proper cooling fan operation, a quick test to see if the system works is to unplug the ECT sensor, the fans will go into failure mode and turn on to avoid damage to the engine.
