Re: How to install new google desk top icon on mac
Pretty easy, but might require you do things you haven't done before...
- Visit Google.com or whichever Google you'd like as a desktop shortcut
- In the Address Bar/Search Bar at the top of the window, drag the Google icon to your desktop. This will create a Google-named generic icon on the desktop
- Do a Google image search for a .PNG file of whatever Google logo you'd like. I've provided a link for the Google Drive logo below.
- Once you've found one you like, click on it and it'll bring up a preview window. You'll be able to tell if it's a transparent icon (very critical) because you'll see a checkerboard pattern behind the logo.
- Click on the View Image button. It'll bring up the logo in it's own window.
- Click anywhere in the window and type COMMAND+A to select the image.
- Type COMMAND+C to copy the image
- Click on the generic document icon named Google on your desktop and type COMMAND+I. This brings up the Get Info window for the file.
- Click on the small file icon at the top left of the window. It'll be surrounded by a light blue "halo" showing that it's selected
- Type COMMAND+V to paste the image file. You'll see that the generic icons in the window are now changed to the Google logo.
If you choose the wrong file type and paste it in, don't worry... just undo your last action (COMMAND+Z) and all will be well!
I hope this info helps!
