Question about Sony CDX-M800 CD Player

1 Answer

No display on Sony CDX-M800

Hi, I have just replaced the ribbon on my Sony and it worked for a short while. I was then adjusting the volume whilst on the move with the remote control, my passenger said that we went over bump at the time, and the display has completely gone. The unit works in every other respect except for the display. I have taken it apart again and re-installed the ribbon but the display still doesn't illuminate. I have looked in the manual and thought I may have selected the black out mode by accident but I can't seem to rectify this.

Please advise.

Thanks, Steve.

Black out

this is a coincedence. The CDX-M800 had a HUGE problem with the ribbon cable on the face going bad, causing this exact problem.
$14.00 and some time will put it back into perfect condition.

HI THE FLEXI RIBBON IS FAULTY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CODE AS YOU WILL NEED THIS TO MAKE THE STEREO WORK AGAIN

IF YOU DONT HAVE THE CODE THEN

LOOK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STEREO YOU WILL SEE A SQUARE SECTION MISSING INSIDE THIS 4 BLOBS OF SOLDER JUST SOLDER THE FOUR BLOBS TOGETHER AND THIS WILL WIPE THE CODE OUT ALTOGETHER

THIS DOES HOWEVER MEAN THERE WILL BE NO SECURITY ON THE STEREO
HOPE THIS HELPS
