The collection box for waste toner. When making a copy or a print not all of the toner that is put on the drum gets used, during the cleaning stage of the process that very small amount of toner is removed and sent to the collection box. Depending on your make and model there is a scheduled image count that the box is replaced or emptied at. If you try to empty it yourself be careful!!! Toner is the finest dust you have ever seen and can become a large cloud in the air (landing all over the place) if not handled properly. And yes it will go through a vacuum cleaner bag and into the motor. Service techs have vacuums that are made specifically for toner.
