Why wont it turn on it was an old x-mas gift and I recently found it again. however I lost the warranty and all the chords for it plus the tripod. even the batteries and charger, I've changed the batteries dozens of times and eve tried connecting it to my laptop and still nothing. any ideas what to do? asides from purchasing a new one that is.

The media you are using to record onto must be out of service.
Try to plug it off and plug it in.
You can try to format it, if it's possible, this could fix the problem.
On the other hand is better and safer to buy a new one. I recommend this option.
If you think this is not a media problem, refer to a camcorder service specialist, it may be a hardware problem as well.
