Just like the first comment says the problem is probably something blocking the impeller. I've had the same problem before, and after I cleared it out the fused stop blowing. Try that and if it keeps happening you may need to call a local plumbing company to come and check it out. http://www.kenhaleplumbing.com.au/services

Make sure the impeller is as clean and clear as possible, anything clogging it and restricting its rotation will cause it to blow a fuse. If tis not turning easily and feely most likely the bearing is starting ti seize up.

It probably draws about 6 amps so the power is 720 watts. Put it on a separate 15 Amp fused line so it doesn't put electrical noise into other items such a TV or radio for best results.

My Zoeller M57 pump has stopped working. It won't even turn on...is there a reset switch or some other easy fix for this?
These Zoeller pumps are very good quality> I suspect that the float switch is not working, which is why the pump is not turning on.You may try giggling the float arm that is attached to the switch. You can also try spraying some WD 40 into the switch where the arm enters. Zoeller does have replacement parts for their pumps. Review their website for your pump parts.

Replace the battery first. It is cheaper than a whole pump. The battery is constantly being charged and will go bad after time even though it does not get used.

as you say this unit has not been used for years
possible cause for not working : when battery are not used for long time it almost impossible to recharge them .
if you plug is fitted with fuse check for corrosion at the fitting point also check that fuse it ok.
most probably is that the impeller of the pump is jammed where corrosion has taken place and or if left unclean when last used (years back ) the slug may well stops it from spinning

try backflushing with high pressure water(carwash) if that doesnt work you have to remove the bottom plate to expose the impeller and remove debri,gasket will probably have to be replaced(silicone) will do
