You could try cutting the bad cable between the torn wires and the keyboard and then sacrificing another USB cable by cutting off the end you need along with as much wire as required, then stripping the ends of the two cables, match wire colors between the cables and soldering the connections. Wrap electrical tape around each connection and then tape all the connections together. Might work. New keyboards are usually available for less than $10 at various stores like Big Lots, K-mart, Walmart. Probably not economic to fix the thing unless it was an expensive mechanical gaming keyboard.

In the back of the printer, I broke the printer plug in port. I accidently pulled the wire and it broke the connector area on the printer. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Alternatively, can I...

Usually the printers have only one USB port. If you had broke it, then it can be replaced (if mainboard is NOT DAMAGED). USB port is very cheep but you will need tools and skills to replace it. There is only USB input port(from flash memory stick) in front of the printer
good luck

My daughter broke one of my usb ports in the front of my asus cm1630 how do i get replacment parts can i buy a usb 2 or do i have to buy the whole setup that contains the usb ports and media card slots

USB 2.0 refers to the technology, not the connector itself.

Obtain another USB connector, and solder it in?
Sure, maybe. Depends on your de-soldering/soldering skills, and if the circuit board is damaged.

> Physically damaged in that the board is cracked, and circuit traces are ripped loose, (Repairable with a jumper wire, or wires), AND/OR the USB port was fried out (Short Circuit), and it fried out the entire circuit board.

Obtain another circuit board? This would be the way to go IMHO, but try to find one.
You may have luck on Ebay looking at Desktop Computers > Computers for Parts, or the actual circuit board itself, dunno.

I dont know how to connect the keyboard to my computer does it have any soft ware or extra wire to connect?

The keyboard does not have any software (It is plug and play). It has only a single wire. There are two different type of connectors at the end of these wires.
Some keyboards have PS/2 connectors and the connectors are round shaped and other keyboards have USB connectors which are flat in shape.
Take a good look at all the wholes on your computer and at the same time look at you connector (It will be either PS/2 or USB) and slowly and carefully insert the connectors.

note:There are two types of PS/2 connectors. One is for mouse(usually green colored) and the other for Keyboard (usually violet colored). Insert you keyboard accordingly.

Toshiba satellite a25 i was going to change the keyboard and broke the connecter slide off the motherboard. what should i do..

Without this slide the keyboard ribbon cable will not lock onto the motherboard connector and the keyboard won't function correctly.
The connector needs to be replaced, not an easy job, might be easier to replace the motherboard, but this may not be a cost effective solution might be better to buy a new laptop.
The cheapest solution is to connect a USB keyboard to the laptop, but then you need to lug both of these around when you travel.

LOCKED..SPACE....BAR....

Either the switch underneath broke or the tabs that hold the long bar broke. In any event, since keyboards are usually $20. or less, why not just get a new one.

Broken connector on new USB keyboard

I would contact the store that sold you the keyboard, and found out where you can find replacement parts. I went to the iOne website and there wasn't a support section, that I could find.

Help please tell me why my keys will not work on my laptop.

Try using an external USB desktop keyboard (or a PS2 keyboard, if you have a PS2 jack on the laptop).

If everything works then, your laptop keyboard is malfunctioning. This is usually due to one of three causes:

1. One key is stuck in the "down" or "depressed" position (collapsed/dented silicone cup beneath, or damaged flex legs under key). Look at the keyboard from the side, to see f any key looks lower than the rest (or higher than the rest) Be careful taking it apart to clean and reassemble.

2. Bad ribbon connector, torn, or merely corroded/oxidized keyboard cable connector. This requires opening the laptop to fix. Usually 2-3 screws under laptop labeled as keyboard, allow it to be pried off. Release the cable LOCK, and remove the thin ribbon cable. Reinsert it 5-6 times to clean off contacts, and LOCK the jack again once you are sure it is all snug. If the ribbon was TORN, you will need a new one. Good luck, not easy to find on old laptops.

3. Worst scenario... someone spilled coke (the worst) or beer/beverage inside the keyboard. This eats up the printed oxide connectors, and this cannot be repaired. you will need a new keyboard assembly.. Use a magnifying glass to look between keys, to see if there is stickey, gooey material there. This would be the bad news indicator for number 3.

KB985W mouse works but my keyboard doesn't

Did you use the CD software program that came with the Keyboard and mouse to install the Keyboard?
Also try connecting the Receiver to another USB port to ensure that you don't have a bad USB port.
Hope this helps. Bud
