I bought a liteon 16x dvd double layer drive and put it in the computer and i somehow misplaced the recording software kite to download so that i can start recording movies, all i need is the recording software kit is there any way i can just get that without having to buy a new writer?
If you lost the software, you can try contacting LiteOn for a replacement, but you'll probably have to go to your local tech store and buy more software. I recommend Nero or Easy CD/DVD Creator, or get the opinion of someone that works there. Make sure you do NOT open it until you get home and check online that it has the features you need, as you will be unable to return it if you open it.

Put a DVD disk into the drive.
Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse click on the icon for the CD/DVD drive.
If a window opens, then your hardware can read the DVD media.
If not, then you need to replace the CD/DVD drive.
Then, you need software, such as the _free_ 'VLC' software,
downloadable from the Internet, to play DVD-videos on your computer.
Hey there dhruvr, your problem is minor. Even though your DVD drive has max speed of 16X, the software you use to burn can vary this according to their default setting. ranging from 4-16 times. You can change these by opening the extra option boxes, when you are burning, or going into the settings for each of your burning programs. You should only have to do this once. It will remember your last setting. Good Luck!
