Amber, you probably have a broken lid switch. They will not let the machine go into drain and spin because it thinks that the lid is open.

SOURCE: Machine not draining

Can you hear the pump running just before the spin cycle, if so then I suspect a blockage in the filter or pump hose, If not and machine is quiet then it could be a faulty water pump or PCB board and you would have to call a technician.

There is a water level sensor in the tube and it might be plugged. IT could also be the load selector or the control module.

My Kenmore 500 top loading washing machine wont work right. sometimes it will work and other times it wont. I will put a load in it and sometimes when it hits the rinse cycle it seems like it gets stuck...

for the top loading washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, if clog your drain pump of some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item, that the cause of water stuck, and it will long time draining or totally not running the drain pump.and its cause of stop of cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because after washing the pump must be on to remove water before start the next cycle.and the unit top load have drain pump you must be up the drain hose up to 90cm from floor lever to make the water lever is make in normal, the water automatically goes out by drain pump.
and for unbalance most of all top loader have problem in unbalance, the main reason is overload or the type of cloth you wash.

Washing machine keeps draining during rinse

You may be experiencing a condition known as "siphoning". This is caused by the drain hose not being high enough off the floor, or not having a proper air gap at the standpipe in order to drain properly. This creates a suction and the washer will constantly drain as it tries to fill. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575830-how_to_prevent_washer_siphoning

In the majority of the cases, this problem is attributed to improper installation, rather than an actual problem with the washer. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
