With the lights in the room turned off, does your TV screen still glow when it is turned on even though there is no picture signal there?

If your screen stays completely black, then most often, this symptom is a result of a failing POWER SUPPLY, but a faulty BACKLIGHT INVERTER BOARD can certainly cause very similar symptoms. Unfortunately, without a donor TV to swap parts with or a dedicated test rig, it can be very difficult to differentiate between these problems.

One way to quickly test this is to remove the rear access panel on the TV and replace the power supply circuit board with a new one, since this is the most often the source of the trouble.

You can usually find replacement circuit boards online by searching for your TV's model number.

Here is a link to the SHOPJIMMY.COM parts supplier website with all the replacement circuit boards available for your model of TV:

And here is a link to a POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT BOARD for your model of TV currently available online from SHOPJIMMY for about $68 US plus shipping:

http://www.shopjimmy.com/sony-a-1144-543-e-g2-power-supply.htm

And here is a link to a replacement BACKLIGHT INVERTER BOARD for your TV which is unfortunately currently out of stock. The online inventory does tend to change pretty regularly so if you do end up needing this part, you can always check back later to see if one becomes available:

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

The repair / replacement procedure is not extremely difficult if you have some basic electrical safety knowledge and some basic electronics / mechanical repair skills.

You will need to unplug the power cord from the unit, lay the TV screen side down on something soft and flat like a bed, and then remove the rear access panel or the entire rear cover as required in order to access the circuit boards inside.

When you remove the rear cover and access the circuit boards inside, just check the part number that is printed right on your circuit boards and confirm that they exactly match the ones provided in the online listing. Also make sure that any part you order is labelled "TESTED WORKING" in the condition description. Any part with a condition description of "AS IS" is probably faulty itself as well.

Then unclip and remove the various electrical wire connectors leading to the power supply circuit board. Then remove the screws securing the circuit board to the TV frame and then remove the power supply circuit board. Be sure to avoid touching any large capacitors on the circuit board which can retain a nasty charge even after the unit is unplugged.

Then just screw in the new circuit board and connect all the wire bundles to their appropriate connectors on the new circuit board and then replace the rear cover. Then plug in the power cord and test.

My SONY BRAVIA KDL-46VL130 FB3 board has a flashing light on it. What's it mean?

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the sites by type in the brand name of your set, in its search box at the right column. View it on a desktop or in web View by mobile. Mobile view has no search box.

TV will not stay on, quickly goes into standby and shuts off screen when powered on.

Psu problem probably a faulty capacitor!

If its a plasma you need to check the y-sus board or z-sus - power supply switches off as it detects a fault in one of the boards usually the y-sus but it could also be the psu itself.

We have a 2007 Sony Bravia 46" KDL-46VL130. There is not sound or picture. When we power it on the green light comes on blinking once and then the red light blinking once and then the green light stays on....

Does the front light stays green ? Or goes back to red ? The back-light going on/off maybe the problem, but it shoul return with a red blinking led (4 times ?) and if so it can be a power inverter problem.

Sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).
