With the price of monitors these days, you can pick up a 19" new for less than 100. Or you can find them used for 50. I would replace it, but if you want to keep it, the go to HP web site and get an user manuel and try to adjust the settings.

The auto dimming circuit on the ccfl inverter is out.  Replace the inverter and it should cure your problem.  Seek adult supervision for this repair. Do not try it by yourself.

You will probably have to repackage and resend the monitor back for repair. sounds like a manufacturing mistake or bug.

SOURCE: lcd monitor will turn on for about 2 seconds then go blank.

butterx99, First thing you should do is surf the net for pics of swollen electrolytic filter capacitors. You will find many, many examples. You will also need to inspect both the switch-mode-power-supply and the inverter boards for failed thermally cracked (fractured) solder joints. I will try to attach a pic of what you would be looking for. You hav failed to mention how many printed circuit boards are in your monitor. Some have only 2, others have 3. If only 2, then the "inverter circuit is part of the SMPS board. Did you take pics so that you can remember where everything goes when you need to reassemble? Let me know by email if you don't get a the pic through fixya. Bye for now. I'm louie12fix on fixya or [email protected]

SOURCE: My HP LCD comes on when I turn on the power, but for few seconds.

The monitor has blown a capacitor, and if your good with a soldering gun and can locate the cap which will have the top rounded instead of flat, remove it and take it to the electronic store and they will give you a replacement. If the capacitor is bad it won't hold the charge and that's why you only see a second or two on the screen. Make sure you are capable of this kind of work, before you decide to do it.

The color suddenly changed to where everything has a yellowish tint. And now the display is too wide to fit on the screen. How do I get it back to normal?

Right-click any free space on the desktop, choose properties, choose display, change the settings to 32-bit and which ever screen ratio you want.

Monitor screen changes from regular color to a green tinted screen?

Looks like you need to purchase a new monitor. If it's too worn out then it's the outcome. I also had the same problem before and I ended up buying a new one. You should not experience that thing if it's new.

Yellow tint on screen

Hello mac71ncheese,

Sometime it's the simple things that go wrong. Have you tried to unplug the monitor from the back of the computer and look to see if their are any of the prong's bent. If so get a screw driver and make it straight up again. Or if they're not bent, just try and reset the plug back into the computer, all they while the computer is on is fine. Sometimes when the cables come loose they will be yellowish, or greenish or just red. It's worth a try!

Good Luck, and don't forget to leave a rating,

Thanks Mark

Greenish screen

sometimes speaker magnets or any metallic device can cause this disturbance in this type of monitor. also, if you are using dvi, i would reset all video driver settings to default. this may correct this green tint you are seeing as well. reinstalling the monitor software could have a positive affect.

Monitor screen changes from regular color to a green tinted screen?

Is the cable connected securely? You may need to check your video card also. You may be able to disconnect the cable and get a red, green, blue icon on the screen. If that appears normal then there is nothing wrong with the monitor itself, it may be the cord or the video card.

Hope this helps!

Greenish yellowish tint on the tv

I have been advised that the color/light engine of the TV fails often and will typically create a green tint on this unit. I have one on order to get a replacement installed. BTW, it is not "user serviceable" and (for me) will require moving the TV to the repair shop for the change-out.
