First of all, check the device's power is off. Then open the sim card slot and place the sim with gold plating downward and close the slot. You are good to go with your tablet.

Unless you specify the exact tablet cannot help as some / most arnt able to have mobile sim cards fitted and are only WiFi enabled

The only slot is for the SD card & the SIM card does not fit.

when you open the screen do you get a notice that no sim fitted
if you do then get a micro sim card from a service shop or service provider shop
check settings for sim card

There are two types of sim card or memory card slots in portable devices. the first type simply slides in so to remove is simply a matter of sliding the media out. The second type the card does not slide it. The port has a tiny cover which slides down or away then the card is lifted out. I'm guessing yours is the latter.

you will have to register it to you modem or fit a sim card to connect it to the cell network
If you have no sim card then there is distance problem associated with the operation as you will need to find wifi hot spots ( maccas , shopping centres etc) for it to connect

There is no SIM card slot on the Tablet, you have to purchase a separate and compatible 3G adaptor to put the SIM card in.

You insert this into the USB slot and then program the Tablet to use it, with the correct suppliers details.

It may be a case of wrong cutting of the micro sim. Since the iPad uses a microsim, you haveto make sure that the sim card is cut perfectly. Do not use a pair of scissors, you have to cut it specifically using a micro sim cutter. Or you can check if the placement of the sim card is correct. Sometimes, the card seems to get loose thus making it unreadable by the iPad.
