There is a detachable probe with this oven that measures internal meat temp. I have removed this but the oven still registers it's presence in the display and it will not then allow use of the pyrolytic function. I have taken the oven out and disconnected the probe connection from the back of the oven but it still registers a presence so back to square one - where next - can you help?

You need to remove the rack side supports too. Its not clear in the book as it just says shelves and racks but everything needs to come out the oven.

SOURCE: kitchenaid display reads insert temperature
We just had this problem with our Kitchenaid Superba electric oven. It started beeping for no reason and showed the probe symbol. I actually never used this probe, ever! Call to the tech people: go get a service man! right...
My husband, smarty pants, lol, put a bowl of water into the oven, plugged the probe in and dunked it into the bowl with water, set the temperature to 85 C (that would be 200 F, I believe, but better check it in the manual) and let it heat up. (In any case, set it lower than water boiling temperature!)
That actually did the trick! Once it reached the set temperature, it shut itself off and the probe light went off! Yeah! good hubby!

Turn the power to the oven off. It usually is not possible to unplug the power chord for the built-in appliances so go to the main switch board and just turn off the oven power for about 5 minutes and then turn on the switch. The error code should disappear. Mine did!

you have to remove the shelf supports (left and right) as well as the shelves. The manual tells you about the shelves but not the supports. I only found out as someone wrote the answer on another website
