Question about KitchenAid Ovens

My kitchen aid kosp 6610

There is a detachable probe with this oven that measures internal meat temp. I have removed this but the oven still registers it's presence in the display and it will not then allow use of the pyrolytic function. I have taken the oven out and disconnected the probe connection from the back of the oven but it still registers a presence so back to square one - where next - can you help?

You need to remove the rack side supports too. Its not clear in the book as it just says shelves and racks but everything needs to come out the oven.

SOURCE: kitchenaid display reads insert temperature

We just had this problem with our Kitchenaid Superba electric oven. It started beeping for no reason and showed the probe symbol. I actually never used this probe, ever! Call to the tech people: go get a service man! right...
My husband, smarty pants, lol, put a bowl of water into the oven, plugged the probe in and dunked it into the bowl with water, set the temperature to 85 C (that would be 200 F, I believe, but better check it in the manual) and let it heat up. (In any case, set it lower than water boiling temperature!)
That actually did the trick! Once it reached the set temperature, it shut itself off and the probe light went off! Yeah! good hubby!

Turn the power to the oven off. It usually is not possible to unplug the power chord for the built-in appliances so go to the main switch board and just turn off the oven power for about 5 minutes and then turn on the switch. The error code should disappear. Mine did!

you have to remove the shelf supports (left and right) as well as the shelves. The manual tells you about the shelves but not the supports. I only found out as someone wrote the answer on another website

Meat probe reads 310 all the time

Hello, Waldy -

Then, purchase a new meat thermometer / probe and put the non-working one in electronics recycling.

Best wishes.

The probe light is on as well as the question remove probe or enter probe temp. This will not go away. We never used this option. We turned breaker off for 10minutes or longer... Pushed some buttons .

Make sure there is not food residue on the probe jack, it will ground the jack and make the control "think" the probe is in use. You can also send the control in to be refurbished... the solder joints on all of these machines are failing badly by now...

The probe doesn't work on my JT912 GE wall oven

Test Continunity for your Probe, if it has good continuity, then you have a internal issue with the Oven... More than likely, you are going to need a Technician

Oven temperature on Neff 195305317 circotherm oven

hi remember that electric can kill you even if it is unplugged, if you don't know what components are likely to hold charge or have large inductance get someone else to fix it.

you need to get the service manual as tis will have fault finding charts, part numbers, location of sensors etc. If you can't get manual then:
Not likely to be temp limiter as this cuts out if temp is too hot. Find temp probe, may be ntc, mercury vapour switch etc. take probe out disconnect leads and measure resistance, heat, or cool, probe measure resistance if not significantly different (ie 10k to 100k or 100k to 300k) then probe is shot. Take probe to spares place, get replacement and refit. Be very careful to refit leads exactly as they came out, don't want insulation to melt and oven to become live. test with oven or meat thermometer as new sensor may need calibration. Should be accurate to within 10C or so

hope this helps

Kitchen Aid Oven - Superba Selectra- receive

Hi,

Here is what Kitchen Aid says about F4:

F4 Meat probe shorted
1. Disconnect meat probe and measure probe resistance (78kω at 60° F [15.6° C],
37kω at 90° F [32.2° C]).
2. If resistance is not valid replace probe.
3. Insert probe and check for a firm connection between probe and jack (in oven cavity).
4. Check connection between jack and harness (in rear of oven).

It sounds like the probe jack may be bad or the wiring between the jack and the control board above.

My oven is stuck in probe mode and will not cancel.. what should i do

Measure the resistance of the meat probe on the K-ohm setting. If it's open, then the probe is bad. I'm not finding a spec on the resistance but it should be something in the K-ohm range.

Next stop is to check the meat probe socket. May be gunked up with condensed grease or whatever. Sometimes a light schmear is all it takes to flake it out. Then check continuity from each leg of the meat probe socket back to the ERC, where the meat probe harness connects.

What is a U80 meat probe error and how do I fix it?

Error U80: Shorted meat probe

1) Food, moisture, or other substance is in the socket or on the oven connection end of the meat probe. Check: Verify proper operation with new probe (replace probe). If still fails with new probe check wiring of housing to eliminate shorting to sheet metal. Solution: Clean socket and meat probe.

2) Bad meat probe (shorted). Check:Use new meat probe to test for correct values in the service screens. Solution: Replace meat probe.

3) Shorted socket or wiring. Check: Test socket at connector J20 on relay board. Solution: Replace meat probe socket.

Functionality when error U80 reported: Cooking and cleaning are available but meat probe options will not be available.

User action/solution:
1) Verify oven connection end of meat probe is clean and no food, moisture or other substance in is the meat probe socket.
2) Call for service.

Oven will ask for temp probe when i am not using one. it then turns itself off.

As you did not include a model number I can suggest you insert your meat probe into it's receptacle and remove it again quickly about a half dozen times.....maybe even a dozen times. The meat probe plug is like an older style headphone plug. The receptacle that it plugs into may need to complete a circuit for the electronic control. When the probe is not in the receptacle, the receptacle contacts touch to complete a circuit. These contacts may have become dirty from normal oven usage. You will be cleaning these contacts using the probe as I explained. If that doesn't solve the problem you may want to call in a professional.

New oven won't work

cobrapilot sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Some where in the oven the contacts going to the oven probe are closing. This could be wiring going to the probe missing insulation and hitting the sheet metal, or the probe socket itself closed. I usually see this after the unit is in use, not right after install. Have you tried to cook a roast or such in the probe mode to see if it will work? For the oven may work just fine then. You are correct about your last line, until service resolves this issue, you have just an expensive microwave. Also as a side note, be sure an be there when the tech showes up. They may just try to say we need a part and not actually attempt to fix your unit. I am not sure what area you are in, however try Olson Appliance Service, He has a website, he is authorized Kitchen Aide service and maybe he can help.
