Microsoft Silverlight is a plugin that only works on some desktop browsers. It is never going to be supported in Safari, because it is rapidly becoming outdated - content providers should be using more modern, efficient and faster technologies. Depending on what you are trying to do, there may be a native way of doing it - search for it in the App Store.
You cannot download IE because Microsoft do not make IE for the iPad. You cannot run MS Windows programs (.exe files) on the iPad. If you don't want to use Safari to browse the web, just search 'browser' in the App Store, and you'll find soma alternatives.
Just remember: The App Store is the only place you can get apps for your iPad!

If the spacebar on the keyboard isn't there (with .com and underscore keys etc instead), you're in the URL-typing keyboard instead of the normal one. If your son cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your iPad using the computer you last synced your iPad with. Using the last computer you synced with allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync all your data, apps, etc.


To begin the process, connect the iPad to your computer using the USB cable or lightning cable. Open iTunes and select the restore option.

If you restore on another computer, you can still unlock the device and remove the passcode, but your data and apps will be wiped.
