Are you sure it has one? A lot of the newer model gas ranges are "pilotless ignition." I had one that did and it had to be plugged into an electrical outlet and the outlet for some reason quit working, so the igniter wouldn't work either...

Where is the pilot light on a GE profile gas stove? The burners suddenly would not light except with igniter.

Please add the make and model number of the stove. Modern gas stoves and ranges do not have a pilot light. They light the gas with an electric spark. On these models, there is a knob setting for "Light" which triggers the spark. If there is no A/C voltage to the stove, you can use a match or butane lighter to light the stove with care.

I've found that the ignition system can fail if the burner caps are not seated properly. Debris in the burner area can also lead to the ignition spark problems. If you take off the burner cap and head (for some models), the electrode will be visible. Clean off any carbon build up on the electrodes for better sparks.

Cleaning lady accidently sprayed windex near our 6 yr old gas GE profile stove. It now makes a clicking noise. What should I do.

Hello there:
the clicking sound that you are hearing is the igniotor trying to lite the pilot s but the pilot lite is out what you can do is first lite all of the pilot lites manually and then start the burners normally as you would and now they should work ok
Also if you contact you local gas/ electric company they will come to your home and lite this stove for no charge ok?
I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

Stove top pilot light

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.

LP or natural? Are the valves set correctly for such and the regulator value changed if a different gas is used than what the manufacturer set the stove up as?
Good Luck...
