Door won't open from the inside

I have a 2001 Sport Trac that the door handle will not open the door from the inside ...... I have to roll down the window and open it from the outside. I would like to fix it myself, is there a site where I can view any drawings to see what I'm dealing with to fix the problem and is this a normal wear and tear common? Thanks.

Most likely a $2 plastic clip broke or fell off the actuating rod. No site that I know of, but the library should have a service manual for your vehicle. In any case, you will have to remove the inner door panel and/or the exterior handle. Check for screws on the outside handle. If ya get lucky, you can remove the handle from the outside and fix it there. If not, remove the door panel and replace the clip and rod from the inside.

INSIDE HANDLES KEEP BREAKING ON MY 2000 FORD EXPLORER

is it the pull handles or the door latch handles? You might try lubricating the mechanism if it is the latch handles, or quit slamming the door if it is the pull handles.

Outside handle on 1997 Toyota Avalon will not open door

Since you can get the door open, half the battle is already won. Yes, open the door, pull the interior door panel and take a look around. Watch inside with a flashlight (towards the rear of the door) as you roll the window down to see if you can see what it's snagged on.

Drivers door won't open using key, handle or push button. Passenger door window won't go up using drivers or passenger door button

there is a broken spring inside the latch assembally. i dont think it can be replaced but if you remove the door panek from inside you can reach the latch assabally and find the lever that the spring was operating. when you pull up on the lever the door lock will work.. attach a new spring to the lever and to the inside of the bolt that attaches the exterior door handle and you will be back in buisness. had the same problem with my wifes sport trac and fixed around two years ago and sill works fine

My front passenger door does not open neither from the inside or the outside. it looks like the lock is stuck in the locking position and won't open from the drivers side push button or the passenger's...

hi deleon,

on your door, if you remove the panel from the inside, you should see a lever connected to the handle that is supposed to disengaged the door hinge opening the door.

your may have this part broken due to corrosion, or there is a possibility that the lock did not disengage leaving the lever connect to the door handle not disengaging the door hinge.

have this checked with a local mechanic or consult the service manual for DIY.

if you have other questions, just lemme know.

regards,

voodoo

Door panel removal

carefully start at bottom of panel & pry away with door open ,but make sure you take any screws out holding on most are in handle area, along with any wire harness connections should be held to door with button rivets (small plastic pressure rings)once all are lose inside panel should lift up off door.

Changing outside door handle drivers door

first disconnect the negative side of battery and then open the door and start looking for small black screws or nuts then remove you find some hidden behind what look like little doors that you will need to remove with a screw driver becareful not to pry the plastic completely out of the door panel itself because if this happens you will have to figure out a way to repair so the panel will stay on the door get a thin pry bar to this job or a butter knife

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trec - rear passenger door handles

only way to repair is to replace the handles. this is a common problem they use a toothed circle to work the lever and it wears and jumps a tooth basically and it will pop the tooth off if you push it back.so replacement is only fix
