SOURCE: danby wine cooler compresser not running and is hot

The compressor needs to be tested to see if it's operational. This normally needs to be done by a service tec.

SOURCE: The Danby wine cooler Model

Sounds like the unit may have lost the refrigeration charge and or there is a problem with the compressor. Check your warranty depending how long you have own the unit it may be covered.

A manual can be downloaded from the following site.

SOURCE: code E4 on dandy wine

We had that problem in 2007, about 10 months after buying it from Costco. It was under warranty so the tech came and changed both sensors. It's worked fine until Feb 11. Now, the lower section ran so cold it froze some bottles. I am looking for a solution to that problem.

Does the unit cool at all? If it is running and not cooling properly, check and clean the condenser coils on the back of the cooler.

Even after unplugginf for a day to reset the unit won't cool afte we had a power outage

Try plugging the unit back in, pay close attention after a few seconds, for click near the compressor. If you here this sound then chances are that the relay on the compressor has shorted out. This is an easy and inexpensive repair. If you don't here the click then it may be a control board

Wine Enthusiast 16-bottle thermoelectric wine refrigerator DEAD

usually bad power supply, if the cooling fan isn't running either. These are horribly inefficient coolers that use a lot of power to accomplish little cooling. The power supplies are quite notorious to burn up.

If your supply is 12vdc output, you might be able to replace it with a supply from radio shack. dont use a battery charger though.

Wine cooler doesn't cool properly

Few things to check here. If the compressor is not running then the problem may be a bad thermostat or the compressor start device (ptc starter). Most common would be the thermostat on wine coolers. Also need to check if the fan is running. If everything is running then you have a sealed system problem. If the fan is the only thing that is not running that will cause a no cool situation.
