Tape compartant will not come up to accept tape

If you mean Sony CCD-TRV128 they have been obsolete for a good length of time now.
The main issue with these, back 20 years ago, was the door catch.
It gets bent from misalignment or forcing the door closed. Sometimes it can be fixed but often as it is so old, spares are no longer available.

there is a risk of hardware damage.make sure you dont force the tape into the cassette compartment to avoid damage to the unit or tape.here's what you can do.
1.remove the tape from the compartment.
2.ensure proper type and size of tape is used.
3.ensure no packaging material or foreign material inside the compartment.
4.if attempting to record, make sure cassette tape rec/save switch is set to rec position.
5.reinsert the tape, make sure it's properly inserted.
6.if still won't close or tape ejected again,remove tape.
7.reinsert a diff tape.
8.attempt to close compartment.
9.if issue unresolved, press the tiny reset button while cam is powered on (located in the panel where the lcd screen goes to,just below all the other buttons). you may also do a power reset procedure: remove batt, remove ac adaptor,set power switch to vcr, leave the cam without power for at least a minute, switch power back to off, reinsert ac adaptor/batt and turn cam on, attempt to close tape compartment.

Thanks for using FixYa. Please provide me with brand and model no. Maybe it is not finalized or it got shut off during finalizing. It may have got stuck due to loose labels or has tangled itself with the roller. Try FW REW again and again to detangle it. And while doing so if you can gear a different sound then that means the tape is tangled. If you hear a different sound then try to open the tape compartment by force or by unscrewing the compartment.

Hi there, you should spray inside cassette compartment a contact cleaner spray carefully aim on the upper right position there's a cassette in sensor ,maybe needs contact cleaning.if problem continues the mechanism unit must be replaced,only drum has a part nr all the rest goes as a unit with only one part nr.

Take out the battery and the AC cord.
Turn the camera on (tape, memory, edit settings) for 15 seconds.
Turn camera to off setting.
Plug battery or AC cord back in.

After doing this, my camera accepted the tape - door stayed shut and tape descended into the camera.

something may be jammed in one of the hinges of the compartment door.

well there are certain cassettes made for that camcorder. i suggest you search for what the are called and then you can buy them

Error 20 is "Cassette compartment motor lock" this is meaning the cassette loading mech is not accepting the tape It could be miss-aligned in it's position or one of the sensors is defective or the motor is bad
