Kenmore dryer will not turn on

i will assume this is a 220 volt powered dryer
if so that is all the power it will need.
if it stops after 30 secs then the heater elements are not kicking in.
it might be that it thinks the exhaust is blocked or is.

My dryer starts then shuts down within 2 secs. I see a message on the screen which is an image of like afilter

Replace the ignitor located next to the gas valve.

Unplug the unit from the wall for 2 min's then plug back in and depress the lock button and hold until the beep or light shuts off. Sometimes it will take more than just 3 sec's and sometimes as long a 20 sec's,

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

The most common causes are the belt breaking or jumping off, or the motor going bad...

It could be 2 things..1) the motor relay is bad or 2) the even heat board is bad. The wire diagram should tell you how to measure resistance on the relay and board.

Check the following-- Gas valve coils Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Check the thermal fuse on the rear of the dryer.
Remove the rear panel. The thermal fuse is 1 and 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. White in color and located just left of the dryer exhaust vent. 2 purple wires. Jump the wires together and start the dryer. If it runs, replace the thermal fuse.

Turn your timer to spin cycle ( doesnt need any water)and turn it on.Now if its starts spinning and than shuts off immediatley turn it back on, if there is nothing happening when you try this >>>Replace your motor.There is a 15% chance that your timer is broken and is sending improper current to the motor.First change motor.If you have been running this on a extension cord or when your community is using alot of electricity it would be the reason your at this problem.Dont run Appliances on super Hot Days ,use them in the evening and your motor will run at a low temperature. the kenmore is manufactured by Whirlpool. there are thermal overloads in the blower housing and one in back where the elements are. if these overloads open, 1) motor won't run 2) element won't turn on. check for an obvious open element.
