Wont play DVD

A common problem with this model are leaky transistors in the relay drive circuit that powers on the TV. That is electrical leakage, not anything physical you can see. The transistors should be labeled Q1701 and Q1702, and would have to be replaced by soldering, so a trip to a repair shop may be necessary. The DVD uses a standby power supply I believe, which is why it appears to work OK.

Try turning on component (cable) for the V2 input on your TV

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.

Unplug the TV ...wait 30 seconds then plug back in. Worked fine.
