SOURCE: My hand held Dyson vacuum will not charge. Every

My same symptoms are - after starting charge, Red light is on, then second light turns On. Then for a long time nothing happens. And later I have all three LED flashing.
I replaced battery and nothing changed.

Imeasured Power Supply voltage and found it 24.2v instead 28v as it stated on the label.

I opened it up and found that the three-lid chip marked 431 is faulty.
431 is a voltage shunt, which sets and controls output voltage.
You can use AIC431CUS or TL432 (TL431 has different pinout).
I replaced mine and volatge back to 28.25v and charger is now working as it should.

You can also use any TO-92 431 chip - there is enough room for it.

Good luck!

When I plug it in to charge the blue charging light comes on for 2 or 3 minutes then goes out and charging stops. Have I blown the charger by constantly leaving it plugged in? Please help!

Hi Alvina, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59 will display a blue indicator light at the base of the hand grip while the machine is taking in power. The light will go out when the machine is fully charged. DC59 will take 3.5 hours to charge fully when the charge is completely depleted, but it will take less time than this if there is still some charge remaining on the battery after use.

Please note, the machine's intelligent control software is designed to ensure the battery only takes in enough power to recharge, and to keep itself topped up. It's safe to leave the machine connected to the charger at all times when not in use - the machine is designed to be stored in this way, so it's always ready to go when you need it.

From the information you've provided, I'm not clear on whether or not you're finding your DC59 works as normal once the blue charging light goes out, or whether it's not working at all. To make sure everything is correct, please get in touch with our experts directly. We'll be happy to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine easily to hand.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

It is flashing a red light and not charging. How can i fix this?

    Hi, it's Allan at Dyson.

    Apologies for the late reply.

Essentially, it depends slightly on where this light is flashing. Is it on the battery itself or on the charger?

If it is flashing, is it fast or slow?

In this situation, there is not a fix that you yourself can do to resolve the problem. I would recommend contacting Dyson in your region to discuss it and resolve the problem via a new part.

Please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), 0800 298 0298 (UK). Our experts will be happy to talk you through some further diagnostic checks when you have your machine easily to hand.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Many thanks,

    Allan

How do I take the barrel off a Dyson DC59 animal stick cleaner so I can clean it properly

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

It's quick and easy to remove DC59's clear bin, which will allow you to remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud using a soft brush or dry cloth.

Press the red bin base release catch once, as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, press the same red catch down firmly a second time to disengage and remove the clear bin.

    barrel-off-dyson-dc59-animal-stick-oxwm34v2ww5haas3o0iwr05r-1-1.jpg
When the clear bin has been removed, you can wipe the bin and the rubber seals with a damp cloth to remove any clinging dust. Make sure all parts are completely dry before reassembling the machine. Please do not wash or submerge the clear bin or cyclone pack - this can cause damage to your DC59 not covered under guarantee.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any additional guidance you're welcome to call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do i know the dc59 needs charging

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The Dyson DC59 cordless vacuum has two LED indicator lights on either side of the handgrip, which you'll see where the battery attaches to the handgrip. These will flash to let you know when there's less than 1 minute of charge remaining.

    2b5dc468-8727-414e-93ea-884c6cb69910.jpg

Once the charge has depleted, the machine will shut off - the power won't trail away gradually as with some cordless products.

If your DC59 is making an intermittent pulsing noise when you hold down the on/off trigger, this is likely to be because a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet is preventing airflow passing through the vacuum. If this is the case, please follow the steps shown in the video below to clear any obstructions:

My dc59 doesnt work green light flashes when you press start button

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

A green light flashing when you try to use your DC59 could mean the battery has no power. If you're confident it's been allowed to charge for at least 3.5 hours, it's possible that the charger cord isn't connecting correctly with the machine itself, so no power is reaching the battery. This is more likely to occur if you're recharging the machine in the docking station, and the charger cord isn't correctly positioned.

We're happy to help you check for and resolve this - if a replacement part is needed we can also confirm if this is covered under our 2-year parts and labour guarantee. When you have your machine to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
