On this camera the display will turn off when closed. There is a microswitch that controls this. If this switch is bad, the camera will think the display is closed. Have it checked

SOURCE: canon eos digital canon rebel xti - LCD won't work when shooting

Most DSLR cameras (like your Canon) don't have a live view - in other words, you can't "see" the image before you capture it. You must use the viewfinder.

It may be fixable, but it may be expensive. You also have the option to upgrade your camera through Canon's Loyalty program. I'd give them a call and find out what your options are before going out and purchasing a new camera.

SOURCE: My Cannon Powershot SD1000 LCD screen does not work.

Has the screen been cracked/damaged? Was your camera dropped in any liquid? It's worth it to try having the LCD screen replaced, as it's quite affordable. If there is liquid damage near the LCD input inside the camera that would be another issue that would be solved by replacing those main boards.

In an ideal situation it would be just that the backlight cable wiggled itself out of its input (I'm assuming the screen doesn't light up anymore), which is something you could look at yourself if you're comfortable taking your camera apart. I wish you luck =)

No image is available to view on the lcd screen canon ixus85is

Click the "disp" button. The display of the camera has been turned off in the LCD screen but you can still use the viewfinder, this functionality is just for those who prefer to use the viewfinder instead of the LCD screen.

My view finder is screen is black..... when I take a picture, it shows the pic taken then goes back to a blank screen... it happened at a concert... it was fine then it went black

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Query Regarding No Display on LCD (view finder) in Canon Digital IXUS 750

With the camera on, have you tried pressing the DISP button once? It's the lower left button on the back of the camera. It manually turns the display on or off as desired to save batteries (you can then aim through the optical viewfinder).
