I have forgotten my password for Itunes.
Nowadays, I believe that all users must actually have an AppleID to use iTunes, which is different than a password for iTunes. In other words, I used to sign into iTunes using my iTunes user name and password, but somewhere along the way, I was required to acquire an AppleID instead. An Apple ID is your user name for everything you do with Apple: Shop the iTunes Store, enable iCloud on all your devices, buy from the Apple Online Store, make a reservation at an Apple Retail Store, access the Apple Support website, and more.
I cannot tell by your question if you already have an AppleID and forgot the password for that account, or if you're trying to use your old iTunes account and forgot that password. If it's the latter, I don't think your old iTunes user name and password would work anyway. But I could be wrong.
If it's the former, here are the instructions for resetting your AppleID password (copied and pasted, obviously!):

Can't remember your Apple ID password? Try resetting the password. If you forget your Apple ID password or don't know it, choose from the following options to reset your password. After resetting your password, you'll be asked to sign in with your new password when you or your device accesses an Apple feature or service that uses Apple ID.

Hi,
Turn your phone off, hold down the home button & then connect to itunes and itunes will pop up with a message saying it has detected an iphone in recovery mode and give you the option to restore and continue through the steps to restore your iphone as new, this means all your data on the phone will be wiped, if you restore the phone from a back up it will put all your data back on, if you know your passcode by all means restore from a back up but if you do and it still doesnt work you need to restore as new
Use the following steps to restore your device:
If
you do not want to restore from backup, select "Set up as new..."
iPhone only:
For the iPhone only, after a restore, the iPhone displays the "Connect
to iTunes" screen. Keep your device connected until the "Connect to
iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated." If iTunes
does not have an Internet connection, you cannot complete this step.
Select the backup you want for your device and select the Continue button to complete your device's restoration.

It's unique for every apple user. You can create your own apple id by going to the itunes store inside the application "iTunes" using your pc. Download a free app then select create new account so you can have your own apple id.
