I have a jvc av-56wp74 and the red is all messed up my kid was playing the wii on it today and all of a sudden the red started streaking across the screen, i am not sure what to look at and i have tried to work the conv, auto and manual it seems to be out by allot. any infor on what to do or look into would be a great help. the tv is about five years old.

Video game also messed up the red. I am in the process of ordering two conv. chips. I will need step by step instructions as well. Thank you.

The screen has red shadows, sometimes a steady offset, often dynamically bouncing around, and staticy looking.  The other colors seem steady.  I've tried disconnecting periphial equipment.  It seems to have started when I played an audio CD in my DVD player.  May have just been a coincidence.

Please send me the step by step instructions as well. I am having the same problem with both red and blue convergence. have tried to adjust with auto and manual but it did not help although when I used the auto fix it worked for about five minutes then went back to the red and blue shadows.

The red coler has started to curve about a third of the way down the screen. everything on the the screen is distorted and doubled in red

if your picture looks 3d it is convergence problem.

This is a do it yourself repair if you have some skill.

I will tell you what you need and have start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair along with photos, and source for parts needed(parts cost will be under 30 dollars).

reply here if I can help.

Red shadows in the picture

If convergence is skewed and will not adjust in the customer menu:

One or both of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC chips most of these sets use is bad.

Most of these sets have the convergence board all the way at the front of the set--you can gain access by removing front under the screen--that is held in by 2 screws on either side in the back and two tiny ones where the front control door is located.

Behind it there is a inspection plate--if you remove it you will see the board right behind it with 2 metal heat sinks2_bing.gif with fins. The chips are on the other side of the heat sinks.

This if you know how to solder etc is not a very hard set to do this repair on--Total parts cost if you buy them on Ebay (I can tell you the best seller there) is under 30 dollars.

If you think you can do the repair I can tell you what you will need and how to remove that board---the board is very easy to get out of the set--with it out you replace the chips and check for any damaged resistors--usually just both chips need to be replaced.

This type of repair usually takes me about a hour---I have done hundreds of them.

If you can not do the repair--most shops are going to get 300 or more for this repair.

Let me know if you have questions and I will help you.

I cannot ajust the colnvergence blue is ok can"t ajust the red

Depending upon the set, the probable issue is either poor connections on the pins of the convergence IC or a defective IC. If you can update this with the make and model, I can confirm this and provide additional details and instructions.
