Why does my panasonic tcp 42 st30 tv menu not work, tv will turn on but can not shut it off unless I unplug tv. I push the power button in on the tv, it will shut off for 5 seconds and turn back on by it self. Red light does not Blink when turned on. Was able to reset everything to factory default settings once but after 10 minutes Menu will not come up and can not adjust volume on remote or on side of tv. All functions locked or something? Thanks anyone out there for your time.
I would believe this to be a problem with the lvds cable that goes from your logic board to the main board. If your tv does not have a logic board, then it would have to be incorporated into the main board. A lot of times the connection gets loose on the main to logic board. If you reseat it, it may fix itself. If nothing else, you can pick up a logic board on ebay for around 25 dollars with shipping. It is usually very easy to replace. Most of the time, it's hidden behind the A board known as the Main board. It would probably take less than an hour to put in for someone not familar with the internals of a tv. Just MAKE SURE the tv is NOT plugged into the AC line.

same frustrating symptoms on brand new 42inch here! tv just turns itself off sometimes without warning or if changing to certain channels. leaves red light flashing for a while then red light goes away. any attempts with remote gives flashing green liht on tv. manual power off and on restarts tv but auto off again. found while manual power on keep changing channel on remote till stable picture appears. then use remote to shut down tv - solid red light indicates standby mode. then use remote to turn on again... till next time it happens. but what is technical fault??

The 7 blinks means that the SC scan drive board might need to be replace but only after checking the voltages from the power supply. If the voltages from the power supply are normal, then proceed to replace the SC scan board.

The number of flashes is an error code. Count the number of flash. It looks like one of the boards in your set is failing intermittently. Panasonic codes for a guide as a starting point. Exact board STILL has to be verified;
One Blink: One blink of the power LED indicates a problem in the inverter circuit located on the LCD panel. The inverter board is not to be repaired in the field. Therefore a replacement is required.
Three Blinks: Three blinks of the power LED indicates an over-current or over-voltage condition in one of the DC supplies of the AP board. The AP board is repairable. Therefore the use of an ohmmeter and peak-hold-voltmeter is required to determine the cause of the shutdown. An over-voltage condition is definitely a defect of the AP board. An over-current condition may be due to a short circuit located in the AP board, A board, or the LCD panel.
Five, Seven, or Eight Blinks: The A board is responsible for five, seven or eight blinks of the power LED. The MAIN +3.3V, MAIN +5V, and MAIN +9V sources are all produced on the A board. The detection input pins of the MPU, IC1100, monitor for their presence.
Four or Six Blinks: The AP board is responsible for four or six blinks of the power LED. The DTV9V, and SUB_5V sources are produced on the AP board. The MPU IC1100 monitors for their presence when the unit is connected to AC Power. A short or open circuit on the A board may also be responsible for their absence.
Nine Blinks: Nine blinks of the power LED is due a short circuit in the audio output circuit (s) of the unit. The audio output circuit is located on the A board. Confirm the status of the speakers. If defective, perform a replacement. If ok, replace the A board.
Ten Blinks: Ten blinks of the power LED indicates a malfunction of IC4200, the frame converter. This IC resides on the A board. Therefore ten blinks of the power LED requires the replacement of the A board.

What is the red light blinking? Count the blinks before it pauses and post back here. It'll give me and everyone else a starting point.

Hello. Panasonic 10 blinks issue have special troubleshooting flowchart to diagnose problem and could take some time for professional like me to correctly figure out faulty board/s. You can start with power supply board replacement just because out of my experience it is bad about 80% of the time. And most of the time another board is affected as well.
I would not recommend homeowner to try this repair without appropriate skills, I know several cases when professionals wasn't able to diagnose problem properly and ended up losing too much money and effort.
In case if you have two boards in bad shape - you already looking to spend not less than $400+ in parts.
Maybe better way is just to invest in new one. And stay away from plasma technology. It is a science project that never got finished.
I would recommend LCD or LED Panel TV.
