Try squirting starter fluid and see if the engine tries to start. If it does, then focus on the carburetor. If you're sure the source of the trouble is ignition related, check for good continuity on the coil wires to the other end. If it's a stator operated coil, check all connections from the coil to the stator and make sure you have good clean connections and ground.
you have a blocked up card jet strip carb and clean out all jets
check fule flow from tank as well also clean all filters air + fule

Gravity feed fuel systems are the most simple and reliable way to deliver fuel to the engine, however suffer from a couple of problems.. As the engine heats up fuel tends to be pushed out of the carb back into the fuel tank and if the vent in the gas cap is not working properly fuel lock (or a slight vacuum in the tank) will prevent fuel from entering the carb. There should be a plastic block or manafold seperating the carb from the engine to keep the carb from overheating. Some engines have this block bolted to the engine, then the carb bolted to block., others have two bolts thru the carb and block to engine. In ether case make sure parts are held tightly together so no vacuum leaks thru gaskets.. One should make sure that the gas cap is venting. Sometimes fuel sloshing in the tank will clog the vent-hole in the cap. Try running the generator with the cap loose to see if this helps.. Replace fuel cap as needed if vent is clogged. Good luck with your generator.
No, not the filter, you will need to try to prime the carb better then with starting fluid, pour some gasoline down the carb, you may have to do this a few times, but everything will fire back up again once you get the air out of the system
Dump ALL old fuel out of tank, you might have got a clog in the fuel line, carburator, fuel valve. Remove carb bottom Sediment bowl then spray Carb cleaner thru the gas inlet AT the carb 3-4 secs CAUTION: KEEP YOUR HEAD BACK.. that cleaner hurts if you get it in your eyes... and NEVER SPRAY A HOT ENGINE (np with yours tho no start) Refill tank with NEW fuel (or strained at least if emergency remote repair) Place a suitable catch container over gas inlet line to carb (at carb) open fuel valve chk for fuel FLOWING (no dripping) into container. replace fuel line to carb start as normal
if not firing still chk that spark plug, might need cleaning now that rest is ok.
First drain the fuel bowl. Any old fuel in there will keep it from starting. Fuel stabilizer is not what it's it cracked up to be. I've worked for 6yrs at a rental yard and had no luck with any fuel stabilizer, the fuel still went bad. If after you drain the fuel bowl it still will not start, you will need to clean the carb. Remove the carb and spray carb cleaner through all the accessible passages. If this does not do it, you will need to replace the carb. For long term storage I highly recommend draining all the fuel and filling just the carb with fuel stabilizer to keep gaskets moist. Then drain the carb when you take it out of storage.
Hi, If this generator has been stored for any length of time with fuel in the carb you probably have a plugged main jet in the carb. As joboo1 says there are a few other things that could cause this behavior, but most often I see dirty carbs, water in the fuel, and plugged/dirty air filters. Get a flashlight and look into the fuel tank thru the filler hole, if you see anything floating in there you've got water in the fuel. Look at the ari cleaner, oil and fuel on the element indicate a dirty carb. Of course check the oil level. Lastly, take the bowl off the bottom of the carb (shut off the fuel valve first), if you see debris in there the carb needs a good cleaning.
