What are the health concerns with SI ionic breeze air filters?

I am looking for details about this gifted ( to me) product and some comments point to your site for possible answers...!??

SOURCE: I have several ionic Breeze air purifiers that have problems

Unfortunately, there are no repair depots that are available for use since Sharp Image has claimed bankruptcy. these product are very unique in design and, the actual repair parts are no longer in stock. the suppliers went under when Sharp filed for bankruptcy.

You may be able to repair the wiring by ordering the identical gauge from you local electrician but, that's about it. most of the hardware is no longer available.

SOURCE: I have Ionic Breeze SI730. Won't turn on.

You could try some appliance repair shops. If you are able to solder the loosen wire , do so. but the ball-baering coming offf indicates a serious problem within the motor. Look in your yellow-pages for electric motor service. They could help replacing the baearing. But do not be surprised if you didn't get the bearing replaced. Those small appliances are meant for "disposable" use.

SOURCE: I have 2 ionic breeze air purifiers sharper image.(germical )

I have the same problem as gerardperez7. One of my germicidal light quadras won't turn the light on and doesn't appear to be cleaning the air at all. I even put a new light bulb in it and it doesn't fix the problem.

If the model was manufactured before 2007, read the below, in that case do not get the parts.

I want to call attention on the fact that several of old Ionic Breeze models are not being manufactured anymore because of health concerns. New model use a completely different technology. Parts for old models that raised concerns are not distributed anymore.
I suggest contacting manufacturer, if parts are not available, then the purifier was among the ones related to health concer. In that case I suggest replacing the ionic purifier with a different air purifier.

Note:On this particular problem: It is caused by arching, that was a factory defect. It is repaired replacing the plate. Since this is an old model, I suggest not repairing the unit.

Hi.

Parts for this unit, including the filter are not on sale anymore, as all Ionic Breezemodels had been retired from commerce because of health and safetyconcerns.

No company will manufacture or distribute parts for this kind of Air Purifier. The units had been retired from commerce.

Sharper Image had been closed down because of the concerns linked to ionic breezer purifier.

Spare parts are not manufactured or distributed anymore.

Ionic Breeze Suit Drives Sharper Image into Bankruptcy.

Someonepurchased SI name and reopened the company. The company is distributing new lines of small appliances, but they do not manufactureor provide support for their original appliances.

SI successfully distribute and manufacture only new products that are not linked to any health concern.

Regarding your old air purifier, theonly way to find a replacement filter or parts is by finding the same model on Ebayfor spares....If I was in your shoes I would better get rid of your oldSharper Image , and buy a different kind of air purifier.

My dad has an ionic breeze that quit working. A repair shop told him it was the power supply. Where can you buy a replacement part?

My ionic breeze GP air purifier will not turn on. I turned it off to clean the blades and when I reinserted and tried to turn it on nothing happens.

The filter is arching. Try first cleaning the filter, dust may cause arching. If that does not help, then parts had been damaged by arching. Usually the filter and more parts must be replaced.
