There is a thermal fuse of poor quality in every one of these machines to protect against fire.
If you are unlucky, it fails early and at a safe temperature, if you aren't it may hold forever.
Two years ago, I had three coffeemakers fail in two days; I got a refund instead of a fourth.
Because the parts are spot-welded together, these machines are essentially unrepairable.
If you want to peer inside, look for a cylindrical part about 5/8 " long with one pointed end; this is the thermal fuse.
DON'T consider bypassing it, I know of one counter that caught fire after the thermal switch that controls the heater got stuck.

Sounds like there are a couple of problems -
First, are you certain that the coffee basket is clean? If the coffee basket has a valve on the bottom that allows you to remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee, make sure the valve is clean. Being dirty would cause it to trickle coffee slowly into the carafe, and will hold coffee in the basket too long.
2nd, you may need to flush the water heating system as they can become corroded with precipitated solids from the water.
To do this, mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water in the carafe. Pour into the coffee maker and tell it to make coffee. Do this a couple of times, using a fresh mix of vinegar and water each time. Pour the used mixture down the drain.
When you feel it is clean, follow it up with a fresh pot of water. Then wash and rinse the carafe.
The coffee maker is now ready for it's next use.

I am not an electronics expert, but mine stopped and it was out of warranty by about 3 months so I decided to take it apart....I am usually pretty good at fixing things. I found the problem. One of the small capacitors on the power cicuit board had went out and leaked across the circuit.
I called to see if I could get a new board and was told no. My choice was to exchange it for a new one if it was still under warranty or throw it away if it wasn't!!!!

Try running a cupfull of vinegar through it followed by a pot of plain water. This will remove any hard water deposits which may be blocking the tubes.
