The control board to your range may have been damaged because of the lightning storm. It happens when lightning strikes a power line and sends a surge of power to your home. This large current surge can easily damage electronic circuits. More often than not if a device is on and lightning strikes, that is when the device gets damaged. During large lightning storms it is best to turn off all electronic devices. The electricity going to your house is fine now and that is probably what your electrician checked.

Stopped working after a storm


Did you have a power surge after a loss of power? If so your TV is ruined from the surge. In the future use a surge protector if don't already.

Ur tv was plug into a power surge protector?Yes?Tries tv and those pay cables or satalites signals boxes unplug,replug it back about 20-30 mins later for those pay signals boxes to reboot and updated it softwares.Tv to do a resetting itself back to factory setting.The tv have 50/50 might work again.If not have to take parts and check for any can see plainly viewing damages.Than that ur tv causes and damges.Not.If u want to tries to save this tv.The first thing u have do the must change the tv power supply board first see if that will save ur tv,that the board where power a/c cord plug into it.If not tv must have to be change the main logic tv turner signal board too.That the board where it take in the tv broadcasting signal wire plug into it.80-90% these 2 boards are causes and take most of the power surges.U have some basic mechanical skills like take things aparts and putting it back togther?Yes?Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement or the tv main logic tv Tuner signal board too.

Unfortunately, TV sets are not equipped with adequate internal protection against electrical storm damage, and it doesn't matter that the TV was turned off if it was left plugged in to an active electrical receptacle and/or directly connected to an antenna or an Internet data line. The fact that you can still receive anything at all indicates that the TV set can probably be repaired at a service shop, but for future protection of the set you should purchase a good surge protection device such as the one found at the below link.

Hello,

Power surges or nearby lightning strikes can destroy electronic equipment. However, most of the time, damage is minimal or at least easily repaired. With a direct hit, you may not recognize what is left of it!Ideally, electronic equipment should be unplugged (both AC line and phone line!) during electrical storms if possible. Modern TVs, VCRs, microwave ovens, and even stereo equipment is particularly susceptible to lightning and surge damage because some parts of the circuitry are always alive and therefore have a connection to the AC line. Telephones, modems, and faxes are directly connected to the phone lines. Better designs include filtering and surge suppression components built in. With a near-miss, the only thing that may happen is for the internal fuse to blow or for the microcontroller to go bonkers and just require power cycling. There is no possible protection against a direct strike. However, devices with power switches that totally break the line connection are more robust since it takes much more voltage to jump the gap in the switch than to fry electronic parts. Monitors and TVs may also have their CRTs magnetized due to the electromagnetic fields associated with a lightning strike - similar but on a smaller scale to the EMP of a nuclear detonation.
Was the TV operating or on standby at the time? If it was switched off using an actual power switch (not a logic pushbutton or the remote control), then either a component in front of the switch has blown, the surge was enough to jump the gap between the switch contacts, or it was just a coincidence (yeh, right).
If the TV was operating or on standby or has no actual power switch, then a number of parts could be fried.
TVs usually have their own internal surge protection devices like MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) after the fuse. So it is possible that all that is wrong is that the line fuse has blown. Remove the cover (unplug it first!) and start at the line cord. If you find a blown fuse, remove it and measure across the in-board side of fuse holder and the other (should be the neutral) side of the line. The ohmmeter reading should be fairly high - well certainly not less than 100 ohms - in at least one direction. You may need to unplug the degaussing coil to get a reasonable reading as its resistance may be 25 or 30 ohms. If the reading is really low, there are other problems. If the resistance checks out, replace the fuse and try powering the TV. There will be 3 possibilities:
  1. It will work fine, problem solved.
  2. It will immediately blow the fuse. This means there is at least one component shorted - possibilities include an MOV, line rectifiers, main filter cap, regulator transistor, horizontal output transistor, etc. You will need to check with your ohmmeter for shorted semiconductors. Remove any that are suspect and see of the fuse now survives (use the series light bulb to cut your losses
  3. It will not work properly or appear dead. This could mean there are open fusable resistors other defective parts in the power supply or elsewhere. In this case further testing will be required and at some point you may need the schematic

first all you have to do is to check all section in power board! check the wire,fuse, then check the power board section. maybe you have burn regulator!.

Lightning Storm/Affinity Washer


During a lightning storm, a lightning strike could have induced a high voltage surge in your incoming power lines. Left unprotected from these power surges, the weakest link ( normally low voltage electronic controls) are the most susceptable. Just because you had power available at the wall receptacle after a storm doesn't mean that your washer control system wasn't exposed to one of these surges and got damaged. On the contrary, it is extremely likely that the washer took a 'hit' and was damaged.Other devices plugged into the same receptacle may have survived that hit because electricity travels the path of least resistance.. In this case.. that path may have been thru your washer.. My point being is that your washer could have sustained a power surge and was damaged so don't rule that out. Of course, that surge could have taken an internal fuse or other component out too..
