Question about Olympus D-545 Zoom Digital Camera
RCR-V3 not as good as Nimh---->http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/c/rcr-v3.html. 1.5 and 3V Li even if rechargeble are not worth it. Look at your cell phone batterie says it 3.6 3.7V? Even your Smartphone with glued in Batteries has that. Check out if there are 3.6 to 3.7v Accus for your cam, if so you can use 18650 cells from an old laptop batterrie(if you want to ask me again). I will try this on my qld md 41066 cam too which quitted also very fast on premium brand Nimh(2xAA), this18650 are for free. Here in Germany we have extra recycling bins for poisonous/dangerus batteries in every supermarket.

Tried it with my md 41066, it works with 4.2V. But it didn't start with 2,75v. To have a Batterie holder with 2AA is hilarious, I wonder why i got it to work with 2 x 1.25V Nimh accus. I will not use them anymore.
But the camera also only shuts down at 2.8 V so Ihave to use the safety circuit of an old cellphone batterie to prevent the destruction (not dangerous) by overdischarge. It will also protect from short circuit.
3.7V see: http://aubattery.net/olympus/crv3.html

SOURCE: "Battery Empty" sign with camera shut off
You may try to set in setup the kind of batteries you are using. Many digital cameras allow you to set the kind of batteries being used. Whether or not this will solve the problem, is yet to be seen.

SOURCE: Empty batteries
Your camera may have been in wet conditions. So "short cut" may have been occurerd. Please firstly put your camera in a hot and dry room. Wait at least one day. After that process. Try again to use with brand new batteries. It will work I think.

The above is service and repair information for your camera.

Even, the manual says that you can use alkaline, NiMH, or Oxyride batteries. which are generally 1.25V for each AA, try the Lithium batteries which are 1.5V. They might work in your camera if your camera has some characteristic where the voltage falls below a certain limit and the 'battery empty' message shows up.
They are more expensive, but might solve your problem, even though the manual says that Lithium batteries are not to be used (in a new properly functioning camera)
