Best way is to contact Amazon. Go to Amazon.com, next to search bar is "Your Account", Place pointer on that and click Your Account from the list. On the right side of the list you will see Kindle help desk. Click that and follow through to send a message. You can choose for them to send an email with directions or leave a number and they will call you back.

You can do this from your Kindle: In menu, select Options --> Registration. If an Amazon account is already tied to the device, it will be unregistered. Confirm the dialog and repeat, or get prompted for Amazon account credentials (user name and password) directly.

In the past it was possible to do this via Amazon's web site, but currently, this option is no longer available.

You can manage your devices in Account settings on the Amazon web site. When you try to log into your account on the new Kindle, it should create a unique device in your account.

SOURCE: Brightness on my Kindle Touch 3G

The Kindle 3G using E-Ink does not have a backlight therefore there are no brightness controls provided which in turn helps to increase the battery life.

If you need to have a reading light when using the Kindle then you will need to purchase one of the many clip-on LED reading lights that are available on the Amazon and other web sites.

SOURCE: i need to reset my amazon kindle

You can enter the password as "resetmykindle" in place of your lost or forgotten password and this will reset your kindle for you.

Doing the above will delete all the content from your Kindle and will also deregister the device so once complete you will need to go to the Kindle Support web site and register the Kindle and transfer any purchases back to the device.

How can I add my second Kindle to my Amazon Account?

You should be able to register with your account simply by logging in to the kindle app or kindle store with your amazon credentials on your new device. I don't recall if that is how it works with the paperwhite versions, but on the android based systems (even non-kindle devices) the device shows up on the amazon device management section of my amazon account on the website when I log in with my amazon credentials.

Good luck.

My old kindle quit working and I bought a new kindle fire. How can I add my old kindle account to my new kindle fire?

What you really need to do is add your new Kindle device to your
existing Amazon Kindle account. The good news is if you bought it from Amazon new, Amazon automatically registers it to your existing account. So . . .

Go to the Amazon website using your laptop or desktop computer and log onto your Amazon account.

1)On the upper right of the page you should see *Hello (your name)*
Drop down this menu by hovering your mouse pointer on it.

2) Select *Manage your content and devices*

3) If you're not logged in, enter your Username and password.

4) If you're browser is set to save passwords an log in you won't
need to do step 3

5) Select the *Your Devices* tab

6) All your Kindle devices should be listed there, including the new
Kindle Fire.

7) You can click on your old Kindle and *deregister* it.

8) You can make your new Kindle Fire your *default device* and
you can edit your other Kindle devices such as any Android
Device onto which you have installed the Kindle App.

9) The default device status ensures new books purchased will
automatically download to that device when it's connected to
the internet via Wi-Fi or 3G depending on what your Kindle Fire
is configured with.

10) You can click on the *Settings* tab to manage your credit card and other information.

In your Amazon account, ( If you don't have one, create one) simply login and click on the "Manage your Kindle" tab on the right of the screen, and then select the "my devices" option, where you can register or deregister your Kindle.
