Thre is a sustain pedal jack next to the foot switch jack. The pedals used are different. The foot switch is a latching switch, the sustain pedal is a momentary.
it sounds like something internal on the foot switch is shorting out (or a lead wire has come off) or some where in that line , it has been severed. you can check continuity with an ohm meter. butfirst open the foot switch and just give it a visual to see if any leads are severed. you may just need to solder it back. - foot pedals get alot of winding up and unwinding. its common for something to disconnect. that would explain all the issues your having. good luck
Sorry, but Roland uses the opposite sense switch. They use normally closed where Casio requires normally open contacts. SOMETIMES one can rewire the pedal internally, but you have to be mechanically and electrically inclined to do that.
The pedal is attached to a rotary reostat (volume control) - usually geared directly or connected with a belt. Make sure the connections are OK - it might have come disconnected or the wires may be broken - check the cables in the pedal and also the pc board they're connected to. If not. it may be the reostat that needs replacing
Yep!!! Happens all the time and only a few synths have the option of selecting the operating mode.
NOW if you can open the pedal, USUALLY the switch has both the Normally Open and Normally Closed functions that a single wire can be moved to reverse the operation.
USUALLY you will need a soldering iron to make the change.
JM: Your problem is this: There are rubber washerson the bolt that holds the pedal on. They are shot. Most likely Yamaha doesnot have the parts.Go to the plumbing dept of a hardware store and get some faucet washers and replace them. YYou can tell if the washers are shot by tiping over the organ and looking at the pivot bolt. Most likely that is yoiur problem. I am an organ tech. and have replaced many of these. DM
