I am using a NORTEL MERIDIAN M7310 unit and, although I can receive incoming calls, I cannot get an outside line nor can I ring another extension on the 'phone. I currently have the DND button indicated, and am unable to clear that as well.
One doesn't necessarily equal the other, but start with the DND first :-)
Press FEATURE #85. DND off. (FEATURE *85 puts it back on).
Now, if everything works, skip the rest. If not, press FEAT *0 and press all the buttons on the strip below and above and note what it says. It should match what other phones have programmed. If it doesn't, post back as a comment and we can start working on that.

The hammer is the LAST thing :-) Try the alcohol first (you drink it and your outlook improves)
Look for sticky buttons. Or broken ones. The FEATURE button is absolute on a Nortel and it's really necessary as it starts your functions. The key is probably the "1" on the display.

Carl, thank you for this - however, the feature button just brings up the number 1 and lights up the intercom line. Pressing any other button causes the 'phone to give an "Invalid Number" response.
Should I look out my rubber hammer (small, technical adjustments)?

You're an absolute hero - I had cleaned the 'phone and that would seem to be the reason for the sticky key. I'll use the proper stuff in future!
